SPLAT! How to Maximize Your Orange Theory Workouts with Coach Mike Dewar

The Fit To Be Fierce Podcast

The Fit To Be Fierce Podcast welcomes its very first Orange Theory Fitness expert onto the show, as this week's episode features OTF Head Coach, Mike Dewar (IG: @dewinitbig). Mike is Head Coach of OTF Melbourne (Yes, AUSTRALIA!!).
Since a lot of our listeners are OTF athletes, this was a fun discussion to record. For those who don't know what Orange Theory Fitness is, it's a group fitness training modality that focuses heart rate interval training, essentially a HIIT workout.
Mike and I talked about:
-Qualities of some of the most successful OTF athletes
-Common mistakes he sees as a coach
-How to eat before your workouts
-How to properly recover and avoid adrenal fatigue
-How to maximize your workouts and not leave progress on the table
-How to build success with habits
...and SO MUCH MORE!!
We even did a rapid-fire Q&A session at the end, where he answered the following questions, directly from our listeners:
🍊What irritates the coaches?
🍊How to build strength with limited weight floor blocks?
🍊Is starting on the rower actually better for you?
🍊What’s the best way to transition from power-walking to running?
🍊Stretches to do postworkout?
🍊Best way to supplement weight training with OTF for building muscle?
🍊Opinion on 2x/day OTF?
🍊Should we be shooting for a certain amount of calories burned each workout?
If you found this episode helpful, please share it with your OTF Fam to help them as well!
When we stop leaving progress on the table, our goals become much more realistic, and that's what this episode will help you do!
If you enjoyed this episode, please consider subscribing & writing a review, as it really does help a lot!

On Depression: The Incessant Battle with John Romaniello

My favorite episodes are those that promote mental health. This episode does just that, as we feature a recent discussion with NY Times Best-Selling Author, John Romaniello, about his personal experience with depression and multiple suicide attempts.
If you know me, you probably know how passionate I am about mental health and suicide prevention, having lost my brother to suicide what feels like yesterday. This episode hits SO CLOSE TO HOME, as this man, a NY Times Best-Selling Author, shares how he, too, struggles to positively impact others who may be struggling or know someone who is.
Aside from writing, John is a big mental health advocate, and he is the CEO of Roman Fitness. In this episode, he shares so much about his childhood, growing up, adulthood, and life as a successful business owner, as well as the hurdles a lifetime of depression poses him with.
John references his written account of his struggle with depression and suicide in the episode, and I wanted to leave that here for your review.
It's a short, powerful read that helps anyone understand what it's like to suffer from depression:

Your story is not over... just keep going. 💚
It would mean the world to me, if you listened to this episode and shared it to help someone. Just think, if ONE PERSON who is struggling hears this and gets the help they need, it a all worth it! ❤️

How to Thrive with Food in Social Settings (3 Tips)

Do you struggle with fear, anxiety, and overwhelm when it comes to eating in social situations?
What about holiday parties, happy hours, date night, or other situations of that sort?
Do you find yourself anxious, feeling like you need to be all or nothing?
For starters, you're not alone. That's very common, and THERE IS A SOLUTION.
The key is to LEAN INTO THAT FEAR AND ANXIETY rather than run from it! If you lean into it, rather than avoiding those situations, you'll encounter them more often, they'll become more familiar to you, and you'll become more comfortable in those situations. Once that all happens, you can get really good at managing balance inside of them!
In this episode, I give my top 3 tips for tackling these situations head-on, and these are the same pointers I'm giving my clients this holiday season!
Please share this podcast with a friend, if you found it helpful! The only way for this to grow is from shares, comments, and ratings from YOU!
