Have you been enjoying the sessions on health and wellness? Remember it is very important that you 'slow down and live. I am pleased to continue to bring you another presentation from the Slow Down & Live: Health is Wealth virtual event that was held in January. I do hope that you were able to hear from Professor Jaipaul Roopnarine on Parenting And Behavioural Health In Caribbean Children. This week it is all about food and Hollan Hamid joins us to talk about Food As Medicine: Why A Whole Food Plant-Based Diet May Be The Answer To Your Health Problems. Hollan Hamid is a big advocate of whole plant based foods as a way to prevent and treat health problems.
Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode:
You will identify how unhealthy eating habits can affect your overall health.
You will learn simple plant-based everyday recipes that can be used as an alternative to regular recipes.
Hear Hollan give practical steps and tips on how someone can change to a plant based/ whole food diet.
Episode Highlights
Eating Habits Affect Your Health
Hollan reflects on how a lack of proper boundaries as it relates to food and her eating habits as a young girl affected her health and triggered auto-immune disorders.
Hollan mentions how it impeded her life as a child as she had to stop from school at times due to illness and severe menstruation I’ll effects that later turned out to be endometriosis.
Hollan also explores how after undergoing surgery and developing Kidney stones, she decided to take charge of her health.
A Vegan Diet Improves Quality of Life
Hollan gives a breakdown of what kind of changes she experienced when she switched to a vegan diet.
She makes mention of her improved energy levels and how much healthier she was as a person and even how much happier she was, as she lost weight and began to see improvements in her life.
After the Self-Work Comes the Network
Hollan took the time to educate herself on having a vegan diet and made it her mission to teach others about it and its many benefits. She used her new found knowledge and background in foods to create recipes and mentions how she gained her love of food and love of health.
After understanding more about herself and her health, she realised that everybody is different and she set out to help others start their own health evolution.
Own Your Health
Hollan challenges us to answer the question, “Am I willing to break up with my current beliefs?” She reminds us how generational patterns affect our eating habits and many of the diseases that we are faced with or impacted by has a lot to do with family decisions as a collective and as an individual. She mentions putting a stop to certain generational habits and how that changes the outcome of her own children by making the changes in herself first.
A certain level of introspection is required to make changes in one’s diet in order for a person to own their health.
Holland teaches practical ways of owning one's health and how humans should see themselves as evolving beings. She provides ways in which one can find alternatives to to lead a more whole food based diet and get the best of it and the importance of listening to your own body to stay in tune to what works and what doesn’t.
Hollan explains that while she is not opposed to doctors and western medicine she believes that healing can come through just having a better/ healthier diet.

Are you running a digital marketing agency or curious about running one?
This week, The Entrepreneurial You podcast invites Xenia Muntean to talk about how to do so successfully.
Here is a snippet of what xenia shared:
“You can get a niche based on the platforms you are going to do the digital marketing on WordPress or if you're a social media marketing agency. Are you going to do Instagram or are you going to do Twitter? If you focus yourself on a platform, you get the chance to better understand the nuances of just that 1 platform rather than trying to figure them all out. I think that's really great in identifying a niche beside the depth of knowledge. It also gives you a competitive edge because you can get all the clients in that specific industry; It also makes onboarding so much easier because clients are so similar between each other. It also makes targeting in terms of sales easier because you have a clear persona. So I think that's one of the things, identifying a niche and then obviously you have to establish your own digital presence.”

It is time for another episode. I am Heneka Watkis-Porter, the host and creator of The Entrepreneurial You podcast if you are new here. So last week I had the pleasure of speaking with one of Jamaica's most famed business leaders, a guest who we can all say, needs no introduction. It was refreshing to hear from someone who has come from a famous business family but was also brave enough to venture out on his own to establish himself in his own right. Gary Matalon left several gems with us. If you missed it, I invite you to go check out that episode, you'd be glad you did. This week, it is my pleasure to speak with a fast-rising entrepreneur whose visionary scope is to make Jamaica the Global Hub of data and A.I. innovation to drive job creation and economic growth. I am already excited about what is about to go down.

Opening business Tip courtesy of the National PC Bank of Jamaica: Focus on Building your Customer’s Experience. Your customer’s experience can make or break your business. Therefore, much effort should be placed on developing and executing a quality experience for every customer/client that engages with your business.

What lessons have you learnt from the quarantine? What is your biggest takeaway? All this and more are the issues we focused on for this episode of The Entrepreneurial You Podcast.
Here is a snippet of what Julie shared:
“The thing that I always keep going back to is when you're an entrepreneur, you're sort of inventing everything for the first time. We like to say that we go to the university of Google and YouTube; teaching ourselves how to do all of these things that we didn't expect to have to be experts in_finding away at least this is what I do. Congratulating yourself for continuing the search I think is enormously helpful because if you wait until you have achieved competency and everything you need to in marketing and sales in all of the aspects of running a business, that's just exhausting. So congratulating yourself on the journey I think is a really helpful move.."

Frustrated in his corporate job and struggling in his marriage, parenting and finances, Seth started with a single dime, with a dream that if he kept doubling it, he could leave his corporate job and create margin for him and his family. Today, Seth is a full time Amazon seller and is the founder of Just One Dime, a coaching company for Amazon FBA sellers. Seth has students in over 100 countries, was flown to Amazon’s headquarters to be consulted for improving Amazon’s third party platform, was asked by a company owned by a shark
from Shark Tank to run their online Amazon and ecommerce division, run a sourcing team in China, and was requested by two countries to train their top businesses.

It is pivot season! Thanks to COVID-19. Perhaps you’ve turned to having a digital business and particularly an Amazon store. But how much do you know about how to do it really well?
This week, The Entrepreneurial You podcast invites Seth Kniep to share his wealth of knowledge on “How to Launch a New Business When All You Have Is A Dime.”
Here is a snippet of what Seth shared:
“First you find a product that is solving a problem and you make sure that the top competitors for that product that are selling it at least five of them have fewer than 100 reviews, which means if someone with less than a hundred reviews is selling really well, then you can launch a new product and probably sell it very well. Also, then you make sure it's selling at least 12 to 15 times a day. That's a general rule profit is more important than how many times it sells but that always ways indicates if between 12 and 15 minimum indicates, very strong demand for a product you find that product you make sure there aren't too many reviews as using the criteria I mentioned and then you start reading the critical reviews and you ask yourself a simple question when I look at all the critical reviews or I should say the top-ranking critical reviews for the top competitor What are the customer saying that they don't like about this product?”
