Our destination is the Troutland region of central Finland with Hall of Fame fly angler, Jani Himanko, owner of the world famous Kellankoski Lodge. Central Finland is home to some of the best fly fishing in Europe and the happiest people on the planet, not to mention brown trout the size of your leg. As Jani says, we don’t take pictures of 20” fish.
A 25-year veteran of the industry, Jani writes for local hunting and fishing magazines and was inducted to the Finnish Fishing Hall of Fame in 2023. He makes the case for Finland and the famous baitfish hatch, plus stories of Arctic char and sea run browns, Russian helicopters and the Kota Peninsula, and fly fishing Greenland and Norway. Our destination is the Idaho Panhandle and the wild and scenic St. Joe River with expert fly angler and guide, Tyler Nash, owner of White Pine Outfitters in Moscow, Idaho. Flowing 140 miles mostly through the Idaho Panhandle National Forest, the St. Joe is renowned for its gin-clear water, rugged beauty, and unforgettable dry fly fishing for iconic Westslope Cutthroat trout. Growing up in Colorado, Tyler lived the western outdoor life many only dream of, spending his school years fly fishing and hunting with his dad.
After guiding backcountry hunters and riding rodeo bulls, Tyler moved to Idaho to pursue his dream of building a fly shop and outfitter business. Today, Tyler unlocks the St Joe from top to bottom and shares his unique guiding style and captivating stories, including adventures with Grand Rhonde rainbows and steelhead, and a memorable tale involving a sunken drift boat, a soaking wet client, and a police helicopter.
