Some people dismiss the Mazda MX-5 Miata as a hairdresser’s car. Others think it’s the answer to all automotive questions. Does the truth lie somewhere between these two extreme positions — or is one of them actually right? Derek just bought a heavily modified NA Miata with Öhlins dampers on it, and it’s great. Jason had a stock NA and it wasn’t. The boys can both agree that NB is meh, turbos have no place in Miatas so the MazdaSpeed is out, but where do they fall on NC, NC2, ND? Or at least he tries. With a decade and a half’s experience buying, selling, driving and brokering classic and exotic cars, he’s experienced the world’s most iconic cars. And hated most of them.
