Tales of the Justice Society of America – Two True Freaks

Welcome to Episode 46 of Tales of the Justice Society of America!

This week, Scott and Mike aren’t screwing around, Dear Listeners! There is no introductory discussion this week as the guys just jump right into the third chapter in the EPIC Crisis on Earth-Prime storyline.

Chapter Three takes place in Justice League of America #208, which boasts a fantastic George Perez cover featuring all of the main players completely mesmerized by the awesome ‘fro that the mushroom cloud-headed Per Degaton is sporting. He is sure to be a hit with the ladies, assuming they don├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬1⁄4├óΓÇ₧┬ót die of radiation poisoning first.

This exciting chapter of the story tells the full story of why Earth-Prime is a desolate, holocaust-torn landscape in 1982 full of mutants and Aussie ex-cops trying to get a tanker truck full of gas to those that need it despite the bikers that want to stop them is revealed. Or... something like that.

You’ll love the funny bit involving a VCR! (If you don├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬1⁄4├óΓÇ₧┬ót know what a VCR is, Scott and Mike suddenly feel REALLY old)

There is also a lot of fun discussion — including a quick history lesson on how DC completely screwed over the history of Hawkman; a brief discussion on the movie Fat Man and Little Boy (which leads to a discussion on Star Trek: The Next Generation because for minute Mike and Scott thought this was Star Trek Monthly Monday or something); a reminder on why Per Degaton stories bother Scott and Mike; Mike├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬1⁄4├óΓÇ₧┬ós terrible John Travolta impersonation; Don Heck├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬1⁄4├óΓÇ₧┬ós artwork; why Firestorm is kind of like Geordi La Forge (because – again – the guys think this is Star Trek Monthly Monday); why Kennedy probably wouldn├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬1⁄4├óΓÇ₧┬ót have nuked Earth-Prime; and so much more!!

The guys also read a handful of YOUR e-mails! WOW!!

Next time: All-Star Squadron #15, the penultimate chapter of Crisis on Earth-Prime!

WE’RE STILL BACK!

The best thing to EVER happen to the Internet returns for the second week in a row of brand spanking new episodes guaranteed to entertain you or your money back!*

(*Offer not vaild...anywhere.)

This week, Scott and Mike continue their look at the EPIC Crisis on Earth-Prime storyline that ran through All-Star Squadron and the first volume of Justice League of America. Part Two took place in All-Star Squadron #14 and, while it did not further the story all that much, it was still an entertaining read. Following the synopsis and notes section, Mike reads a missive from the letters page that leads to a rather lengthy discussion on why Nazis pretty much suck. After that, the guys take a look at what else was going on in the DC Multiverse at the time and even read one of YOUR e-mails.

WINSTON CHURCHILL HIMSELF SAID THAT THIS IS A GREAT PODCAST!

Or, y’know, he would if he wasn’t all dead and stuff...

Well what are you waiting for? LISTEN ALREADY!

CRISIS ON EARTH-PRIME CONTINUES!

Yes, indeed! Scott and Mike are back again and this time they brought All-Star Squadron #15, the penultimate chapter of this kick-ass storyline, with them! After a brief conversation about He-Man, the master of the synopsis himself, Scott Gardner, gives you the skinny on the events of the issue and, in all honesty, it was kind of a mixed bag this time out.

First, there is the unbalanced nature of the teams when the heroes split up. Then, there is the bizarre looking Per Degaton on the last page! Scott has some issues with the use of physics in this issue as well. There were some things to like, though, such as Superman taking charge and assuming a leadership role — halfway through the issue...

After all of that, the guys look at the ads (leading to a confession on the part of Mike about Camelot 3000), what else was going on in the DC Multiverse, and a handful of YOUR e-mails!

This show is still the MOST FUN YOU WILL EVER HAVE listening to a podcast — or your money back!!
