Spandex & Wine - Feeling Like Yourself Again: The Pellet Promise
play

05/13/25 • 19 min

Feeling tired, foggy, and unlike yourself? You're not alone—and it's not just "getting older." Meet CarolAnn Tatera, CEO of SotoPelle and widow of Dr. Gino Tatera, the physician who revolutionized bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Her personal transformation began at age 42 when debilitating night sweats, memory problems, and stubborn weight gain led her to discover her testosterone levels were nearly depleted.
CarolAnn takes us behind the scenes of hormone pellet therapy, a method that's actually been around since 1939 but remains unfamiliar to many. Unlike the hormone roller coaster created by creams, patches, or pills, these rice-sized pellets deliver steady hormone levels with a simple 15-minute procedure just a few times yearly. The results? Renewed energy, mental clarity, improved metabolism, and skin so rejuvenated that friends assumed she'd had cosmetic surgery.
What makes this conversation particularly fascinating is learning how bioidentical hormones are making waves far beyond treating menopause. From professional athletes with traumatic brain injuries contemplating suicide to Parkinson's patients seeking relief, hormone therapy is showing remarkable promise for cognitive and neurological health. CarolAnn, approaching 70 but looking decades younger, embodies the potential benefits, having been named Arizona's top HRT company for ten consecutive years.
Whether you're struggling with perimenopausal symptoms, unexplained fatigue, or simply curious about optimizing your wellness as you age, this eye-opening discussion might offer the missing piece you've been searching for. Remember that while gut health remains foundational (as we often discuss on Spandex and Wine), hormone balance could be the key to feeling like yourself again. Ready to explore further? Visit sottopelletherapy.com to learn more about getting your hormone levels tested and finding a qualified provider.

Karli Ritter is Kansas City's best meteorologist and is today's podcast guest!!
From the Fox4KC web site:
Karli Ritter joined FOX4 in March of 2007 and forecasts for FOX4 News from 6:30-10 a.m.

Karli’s passion for weather started at a young age while she was growing up in central Florida. In between the afternoon thunderstorms, she would often track every hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean on her own personal tracking map. Then she saw a waterspout in the Florida Keys and she was hooked!

Her passion led her from central Florida to the panhandle, where she studied at Florida State University. While there, she earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Meteorology. During her time at FSU, her involvement with a student-run weather show started her on the path to becoming a television meteorologist. After graduation, she worked in Sarasota, Fla, and Montgomery, Ala.
Since moving to Kansas City, Karli has become involved with many charities around town and loves serving as emcee at their fundraisers. She also earned her Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal in November 2007 from the American Meteorological Society.

When she’s not in the FOX4 Weather Center, Karli enjoys traveling, cooking, and playing or watching any sport.

Spandex & Wine - Are You Running in Circles or Finding Your Flow?
play

04/08/25 • 10 min

Have you ever experienced that magical feeling when everything just clicks? When energy, focus, and joy align perfectly, creating a sense of effortless flow? That's exactly where I am right now, and it feels incredible.
What makes this particularly meaningful is that not long ago, I had resigned myself to a "new normal" of fatigue, brain fog, and discomfort that I attributed to age and hormonal changes. I thought these limitations were simply my fate. The remarkable turnaround I've experienced proves otherwise, and I'm bursting with excitement to share this transformation with you.
My renewed energy is spilling over into every area of my life—from teaching more challenging fitness classes (my poor 6am students can attest to this!) to making significant progress on upcoming retreats, courses, and challenges. Speaking of retreats, I'm thrilled to announce that registration will open soon for experiences that will be more content-rich and transformative than ever before. These fill quickly, so keep an eye on my newsletter for details!
I'm also inviting you to join our April push-up challenge: 11 push-ups daily for 30 days. Inspired by research suggesting women should be able to complete this many proper push-ups, this challenge embraces the "start where you are" philosophy. Whether you're modifying against a counter or alternating between knees and toes, what matters is beginning the process. You'll be amazed at your progress after 30 consistent days.
As we approach my 150th episode milestone next week (with special giveaways planned!), I'm filled with gratitude for this community. If you're struggling with energy, discomfort, or any wellness challenges, please reach out at 913-392-2877. The transformation I've experienced might be possible for you too. Let's connect, grow, and find our flow—together.

Ready to hit the reset button on your health? After celebrating my 150th podcast episode milestone, I'm diving deep into my transformative experience with a three-day nutritionally supported fast. This isn't your typical starvation cleanse – it's a science-backed approach that delivered surprising benefits beyond just weight loss.
I walk you through the fascinating day-by-day breakdown of what happens when your body transitions from using stored carbs to burning fat for fuel. Day one brings the initial adjustment period, where your body questions this new approach. By day two, ketosis kicks in, creating a cleaner energy source while autophagy – your body's natural cellular cleaning process – begins rejuvenating your systems from within. The final day brings deep fat burning and gives your digestive system a well-deserved break, optimizing future nutrient absorption.
The results? Four pounds and five inches lost, but more importantly – renewed energy, mental clarity, and that empowering feeling of accomplishing something meaningful for your health. Throughout this process, I maintained proper nutrition with protein intake (about 100g daily) through collagen and whey supplements, along with bone broth – making this a sustainable approach rather than a punishing ordeal.
Feeling inspired by my results, I've created the "3 Plus 30" program combining this initial three-day reset with a comprehensive 30-day follow-up focused on gut healing, strategic movement, targeted supplements, and supportive coaching. If you're feeling stuck, bloated, or just not yourself, I'd love to chat about whether this approach might work for you. Schedule your free consultation at spandexandwine.com, and let's start your journey toward feeling clean, clear, and completely refreshed. Groups are forming now!

Spandex & Wine - Keeping Boobs From Bouncing: The Story of WRAX
play

03/14/25 • 35 min

**Order your WRAX here & use the code SPANDEX for 10% off**

What if someone finally solved the sports bra problem? Meet Frankie Elder-Reedy, the creator of WRAX – a revolutionary product that's changing how women experience movement during exercise by controlling breast bounce from the top down.
"I keep boobs from bouncing," Frankie explains with refreshing straightforwardness. After years of frustration with inadequate sports bras that either squeezed uncomfortably or put strain on her shoulders, she identified a simple principle: "What goes up must come down. If it doesn't go up in the first place, then it's not going to come down." This insight led to creating a product that prevents upward and lateral movement rather than relying on compression.
Frankie's entrepreneurial journey began with personal need but quickly revealed a much wider impact. Beyond physical comfort, her creation addresses the emotional and psychological barriers many women experience during physical activity. From teenage girls avoiding sports due to embarrassment to wrestlers needing secure support during competition, WRAX offers a solution that promotes both confidence and performance.
The product line now includes three versions: the fully adjustable WRAX Max, the hardware-free Flex for activities like jiu-jitsu, and a recently launched all-in-one sports bra. What makes the harness versions particularly practical is their ability to work over existing sports bras, effectively upgrading whatever you already own rather than requiring new purchases.
Most surprising has been the unexpected performance benefits. Women report running faster and maintaining better form when using WRAX – advantages Frankie hadn't anticipated when she simply set out to make exercise more comfortable. As she describes her 2025 as a year of "bewilderment" filled with unexpected opportunities and connections, it's clear this innovation has only just begun to reveal its potential.
