SkeleTales

In this week's episode of SkeleTales the ladies once again go on a chaotic bender of stories untethered to a central theme. Yet, as Jeff Goldblum once taught us, even in chaos, patterns begin to emerge and tonight’s tales are no exception.
Britt once again harvests her stories from the ghoulish garden that is Nextdoor. She tells the story of Sally, whose holiday weekend was cut short by a child’s laugh and a locked door. Perhaps emboldened by her previous encounter, Sally goes on to attend a ghost tour in Spring, Texas where her senses are assaulted by an inescapable and inexplicable odor that seemingly trancends time and space, a remnant of gore and brutality from bygone years.
While still envious of others paranormal encounters, Alissa is suddenly grateful that she is not haunted by stank spirits or other unwanted entities such as those who torment her friend’s child, Mikayla. Seemingly held at bay by tri-annual clearings, the spirits have taken a shine to poor little Mikayla. Though the visitors are sometimes family members who entrust her with knowledge she couldn’t know, too often they are the ghostly manifestations of stranger danger.
Mikayla, however, is not the only haunted tot in today’s tales. Britt brings a story of some children who are too petrified to sleep, or even enter, their Austin townhome for fear of being beamed by a rogue marble or spotting something so terrifying that they can only describe it by saying “Halloween Is Here.” This is a truly horrifying tales with a murdery backstory.
Tune in for these spooky tales and a laugh and more in this week’s episode of SkeleTales, brought to you by Katie’s drinks. As always, thank you for listening and Haunt Y’all Later.

Showdown In SkeleTown

Howdy y’all dear listeners!
From the title of this episode you may be all geared up for some good old western ghost stories. Well, if you consider modern day Austin, Washington, DC and Rochester, NY and Indonesia the old west, then you are in luck. While these tales may lack gunslingers, Alissa and Britt are veritable storyslingers, firing tales of the strange and unusual at each other with ruthless abandon.

Alissa takes the first shot with a delightful tale of a missing cat and the pet psychic tasked with cracking the case. In doing so the ladies add another item to the growing list of things that firefighters do not do.

Britt’s return’s fire with tales from her friend Jessica who has very clearly been touched by the supernatural... literally and figuratively. Somehow Jessica’s story of a disembodied hand entering her personal space isn’t the creepiest experience she shared with Britt; pretty much the girl from The Ring appears to do her bidding from time to time.

Alissa, realizing she may have bought a knife to a gun fight, pulls out some tales of the bizarre told to her by her Mother-In-Law, Hedwig Williams. A disembodied voice, a haunted painting, a roadside phantom and the power of motherly intuition wrap up this freewheelin’ spook fest. Also, the ladies provide some killer western sound effects; those alone are worth the listen.

As always, thanks for listening and Haunt Y’all Later!

Cult of the Bangs

Warning dear listeners, you may find yourself with bangs by the end of this episode. Please, proceed with caution.
Prophecies, posessions, poltergeists, oh my, this episode is a veritable stew of the strange and unusual. Alissa serves up the first tale in this frightful feast by relaying the haunted lore that planted the seed from whence SkeleTales grew. An innocent inquiry about a petite pink house on a local facebook page reveals that something dark may be lurking within its pastel walls.
Much like the blush abode is Alissa’s tale, the cat in Britt’s story most certainly has a secret of its own. Intent on protecting its owner, a paradoxically soft-spoken woman named Yeli, the fearless feline named Leah wages a nocturanl war with a dark-haired entity seemingly intent on making good on what Alissa assumes is a curse that spans generations.
And, while on the topic of generations, Alissa seizes the opportunity to once again make a show of her impressive family line with yet another tale of that drunken tramp of a great-great-great-great grandpa, Johnny Boy Gribben. Sans axe, the old Gribbs manages to terrorize the streets of Victorian Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with something far more terrifying.
As always, thank you for listening and haunt y’all later!
