Creating a Sense of Belonging and Navigating Body Image Issues with Kids with Diana Rice
07/07/24 • 51 min
Happy Satiated Saturday!
We are at the last episode of this month-long body image healing focus.
And, I would be remiss if I didn't address our younger generations. Parents face a huge challenge now in navigating body image concerns with their kids as they face societal pressures from every angle to look a certain way. I work with so many parents who feel overwhelmed as to where to start or what to say when it comes to talking about body image with their kids. So this week's episode is for you.
In this week's Satiated Podcast episode, I talk with Diana Rice, Registered Dietitian, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and Certified Positive Discipline Parenting Coach, about navigating body image with kids, building resilience and confidence with your children, the importance of parents creating a healthy relationship with their own food and body, fostering a sense of belonging in kids, and challenging societal messages.
You can also read the transcript to this week’s episode here: https://www.stephaniemara.com/blog/navigating-body-image-issues-with-kids
If you're not a parent, Diana provides some powerful examples of what we could all be doing to provide a safer body image world for everyone. You might also reflect on how you would meet your inner child in some of the approaches we discuss today to reparent yourself on the ways you perhaps wished you were met, seen, and held around your body image concerns growing up.

Creating Physique Goals with Intention and Lifting Weights to Regulate Your Nervous System with Kylie Larson
Happy Satiated Saturday!
I have been asked many times over the years, "Is it alright to want to change my body?"
To which I always respond, "Yes!" with a caveat that we explore your intention behind the body goal.
Do your physique goals align with how you want to feel, what you want for your life, increasing presence, and fostering safety in your body? Or are they to prove your worth and enoughness that will send a cue of danger to your body?
Exercising or moving your body in new ways can be experienced differently in your body based on the state of your nervous system.
In this week's Satiated Podcast episode, I talk with Kylie Larson, founder of Elemental Coaching, about the intention behind body goals, the importance of physical movement beyond changing how your body looks, the connection between weight lifting and good stress, the complexities of self care, and so much more.
You can also read the transcript to this week’s episode here: https://www.stephaniemara.com/blog/creating-physique-goals-with-intention
You have two Saturdays left to sign up for the Befriending Your Body Image Challenges with Somatic Eating® Practices Workshop!
I was a kid who hated moving their body to a teenager who over exercised so I know what it is like to have a conflicting relationship with physical movement.
We will explore how to bring in physical movement practices that honor where your nervous system is at and what your body may need.

Astrology and Discovering Star Solutions to Your Food Struggles with Debra Silverman
Happy Satiated Saturday!
I love astrology. When I was a kid, I was always drawn to reading my horoscope in the newspaper. I felt so seen every time I read anything about an Aries sun sign.
Then, in undergrad, I made new friends who were happy to chat about astrology over a cup of tea for hours.
The year before I went to graduate school, I dabbled in reading charts for others and when I moved to Colorado, I found community in a weekly astrology class led by Debra Silverman.
I was thrilled Debra had time to come on and chat about the connection between different astrological signs and their relationship with food.
In this week's Satiated Podcast episode, I talk with Debra Silverman, astrologer, psychotherapist, and author of the book The Missing Element, about what signs and chart placements can indicate struggles with food, the high road expression and the low road expression of any sign, the importance of self-compassion, the potential for healing and growth, and you're going to learn a lot more about me as Debra references my chart to explain some of what she's talking about.
You can also read the transcript to this week’s episode here: https://www.stephaniemara.com/blog/astrology-and-discovering-star-solutions-to-your-food-struggles
If you love today's conversation, Debra has an Astrological Immersion coming up. Check that out the link below.
