RECAP TIME:

After tracking down the two drowned tombs beneath the broken sea, our heroes begin the long sail back to Delnori. But not without a repercussion... or revelation.

When their nemesis, Xethir finally showed himself to be impersonating Detrius within the seal sanctum, he killed the captain before our heroes could defeat him.

Discovering the real Detrius hidden and unconscious on the ship, Sentinel and Freya nursed him back to health. He then revealed he had gained knowledge from his horrific connection with Xethir, that once Xethir controlled enough of the Surgepyres, he would harness the coming magical surge to forge a vessel for his god, Terranin, the Unbeing, using fragments of his shattered heartstone: the pieces of terror.

Meanwhile, Moxie was aware someone was scrying on them, and soon found out their identity Meredith Vollant, Associate Guild Master of the Whispered Word, and she wanted aboard.

Ora was also dealing with repercussions from the seal sanctum: the Mark of a cloak moth had appeared on his wrist. And although Freya had removed it, Ora was visited by an apparition of Morduram, Death, and offered a terrible choice: to seize the power of the Moth Coin in exchange for cutting himself off from his deity, Enthor.

Enthor proposed something else. The ascendant powers in the Entanglement were rising, Ora must reject the apparition and Enthor once more in the Edge...

RECAP TIME:

Preparing for the next leg of their journey in Delnori, our heroes took stock.

Xethir was defeated, but he would likely return in a different plane of the Entanglement. With the surgepyre towers, he plans to resurrect his otherworldly god, harnessing the power of an interdimensional surge of Evraen due every thousand-or-so years... and the clock has run down.

Our heroe’s know the location of one Piece of Terror – a shard of the dead god’s heartstone – and so Delnori may not host them for long. But there are other factors at play. Their budding business venture in Delnori, the mystery of Duke Lucard and his connection to both Freya and Eugene, and the secretive Zapes, possible necromantic mentor for Moxie.

And to make matters more complicated, the Curator calls once more from his demi-plane abode. And his news is not good... there are two contracts or work out on the Collectors network. The first from the Empire’s Apotheos district, which our heroes identified as the very mission for the Piece of Terror they will soon embark on. Leaving them with a decision: to either take the job and find out who in the Apotheos is working for Xethir, or to find the shard in competition with whoever takes the job.

The second contract was a bounty for Ahmaya...

With the world spinning about them, our heroes work to tie up loose ends in Delnori – and spending some much needed time with friends, family... and more.

Roll Models D&D - Roll Models D&D: Episode 98 – Beyond the Great Seal

RECAP TIME:

Our heroes reunited the fragmented parts of the ancient map and delved into the first of the tombs, Yelanriae, along with the pirate crew of the Oddmium Trist.

The voyage was led by Captain Ryse Killid, deathlock of Onru the Labyrinthine, and his only goal was to find a home for his pilgrim god in a secret borrowing that lay beyond a great seal. He was seconded by his First mate, Detrius.

As they approached the final tomb, the map offered a warning “your final sacrifice is in bearing the terrible weight of the truth.”

The tomb was hidden beneath an island that had been hollowed out, a puzzle embedded within it to hide a teleportation stone. That stone led to a demi-plane of ash and mazes, and atop a hill was a mansion. Leralith met our heroes, a reanimated memory of the sorcerer that created this place and the prison below it, the King’s Hold.

Over 40,000 years ago, the Kings Hold was made to entrap Enthor, Ora’s deity, should he be corrupted by the Malignant Domain as he feared. And it had since been repurposed by the Ones Above as a location to hide one of the One Thousand Seals, and to cover up mistakes of the Entanglement’s past.

Our heroes delved through the Kings hold, facing reanimated horrors, puzzles and twin obelisks that consumed spells. But through they went, and in the Seal Sanctum, Detrius opened the great sealed door, and revealed himself, hidden by a spell like true polymorph: Xethir. Nemesis, and herald of the Malignant Domain.

Roll Models D&D - Roll Models D&D: Episode 99 – The Cosmic Surgepyre
play

11/24/23 • 98 min

RECAP TIME:

Finding the final location on the ancient map of The drowned city, Zarlumai, our heroes found themselves in a demi plane of ash. There they were chaperoned through a strange mansion by Leralith, the reforged memory of the sorcerer who once created this place, and they discovered the Seal Sanctum was beneath them in a prison called the King’s Hold.

Our heroes delved through the Kings hold, facing reanimated horrors, puzzles and twin obelisks that consumed spells. But through they went. Finally in the Seal Sanctum, Detrius opened the great sealed door, and revealed himself, hidden by a spell like true polymorph: he was Xethir. Nemesis, and herald of the Malignant Domain.

Our heroes fought furiously, Xethir summoned a giant horror from the malignant domain. They fought to kill Xethir before the great sealed door opened fully. To stop him from claiming what lay beyond.

They succeeded, but not without injury and loss. The captain was dead. But as everyone rested and communed with their gods, Ahmaya saw something in the depths of the borrowing beyond the seal... A great glass tower before a nebula of stars.

RECAP TIME:

Our heroes had found and explored the first of two ancient chambers with the pirate crew of the Oddmium Trist. Yelanriae, the first tomb was an undead place, submerged under the depths and bedrock of the Broken Sea, where with Killid’s blood they successfully forged the bloody key and escaped to head for the second chamber... the Seal Sanctum.

After a long journey, a storm swept over them, one worse than any Captain Killid had ever seen. The Oddmium Trist was ravaged, struck by giant waves and lightning, but our heroes kept the galleon and its crew in one piece. All except Sorel, one of the twins, who was lost in the maelstrom.

But after a day of rest – and an excursion into Sentinel’s Patron-domain, the Subtle House – our heroes offloaded themselves from the ship into a small boat and made their way onto the island that capped where they believed the Seal Sanctum to be hidden.

On the coves of the island where shipwrecks where Ora found evidence of another pirate crew who were not so lucky, and several hundred years before then.

On the island itself there was little, but they soon discovered a hidden cove and a huge stone door the other side of a deep well. after figuring out the puzzle carved into the rock of the island that seemed to be an attempt to hide the entrance into the Seal Sanctum, our heroes found a large, polished black stone behind the stone door.

Of course, Ahmaya touched it, and found herself in a world of mist and ash, surrounded by knee-high mazes, a gravel path leading up to and ash-softened manor house of spires and verandas. And walking out the front door, was her father...

Navigating the tangling conspiracies in the desert city of Dustmere, our heroes took a job investigating a robbery at the Archivist’s Guild. After picking through evidence in the stacks, they homed in on a lead – a member of the Guild itself - and chased them to their residents in the cobbled roads and grand estates of the Glitters.

But on arrival, their chaperone from the guild, Ryndell turned on them to seemingly protect or steal evidence and a fiery battle ensued that left the building ablaze. Ryndell fled with a strange teleportation magic, but our heroes were not left empty handed. A note referring being “unconsecrated” and Ryndell’s actions all but confirmed they were right about the robbery.

Wrapping up the case, they returned to their friend Caxaria’s hideout, where they wrestled with what the dukes we're up to, and what this new evidence, a group “unconsecrated”, really meant. Then, there was a knock at the door...

RECAP TIME:

Our heroes came to Delnori a group of ex-hunter scavengers fleeing the Apotheos and crime Syndicate of Dustmere. They had ended Xethir’s ritual and in return they gained his attention. Now, as they look to leave, they have become renown by more than just Ripper’s gangs. Their names are known in the halls of the Artificers, Alchemy, and Whispered Word guilds, the Touch Lotus Thieves guild hear them, and the Lamoré family will (hopefully) work with them. As they wrap up a week of preparations for their voyage with the Oddmium Trist, Freya continues at the books, Ora enchants his amulet, Ahmaya and Sentinel finish up their work, Moxie prepares a prank for Eugene, and Eugene braces himself for a goodbye with his twin brother, Magnus. As the final day in Delnori approaches, our heroes have one last task before they take to the waves of the Broken sea. They must use the evidence they have gathered to help Morderyn overthrow his mother as leader of the Lamoré family and thieving business. The rewards would be great, but the task is easier spoken about than completed.

RECAP TIME:

Dolan Crissaphaene had sought to control the Touch Lotus Thieves guild with gold, strange clockwork augmentations, and promises of power in the Delnori city. All they had to do was work with him to fix and reopen the Opal archway and continue searching the burrowing worlds beyond it for artefacts Crissaphaene can use to make himself immortal.

But when our heroes came across the archway, and caught wind of Dolans plans, it was never going to happen so easy.

Our heroes stormed the archway cave in the early hours with alchemical bombs, raised skeletons and a bold plan. And it worked. Kind of.

The Touch Lotus leader, Fenriv was ripped away from the ritual machine and draped into an underground river, and Dolan fought first to keep the ritual going, and then for his life.

But even after he fell, the ritual had opened the archway, albeit tenuously. A giant creature pushed through, a mass of writhing tentacles and barbs the size of a small ship.

With the help of the remaining Touch Lotus, our heroes felled the abomination as it tried to slip into the waterways... leaving our heroes catching their collective breath as they searched through the remains of the Clockwork Alchemists hideout...

RECAP TIME:

The Scallywag’s nemesis, Xethir, would soon return. With the Surgepyres soon to be under his control, he would resurrect his otherworldly god with the power of an interdimensional surge that happens every thousand years... and the clock had run down.

The first step to get ahead of him, was find the first heartstone fragment of his dead god, before his minions. But with the curator telling our heroes that a contract was out to market to do just that, the pressure was on. They would first head to the capital city, Sehira.

With their time in their new home of Delnori coming to an end. They hired a carriage and shot north on the long road to the capital. Their first stop would be the city of Talbennery, a travel hub, where they hoped to find Sentinel and Moxies old friend, Dom, it got himself into a bit of trouble.

But after travelling for four days, they came across a roadblock of bandits and a turncoat Apatheos Keeper. But they too were not alone, and a horrific creature of shadows and claw leaped from the forest and began its horrific attack.
