If you live in their franchised territory, inevitably you have seen billboards and commercials for "We Buy Ugly Houses" also known as HomeVestors of America, Inc. They are the leading home buyer in the country, helping more than 10,000 people sell their homes every year. What does it look like to run one of their franchises? Jeff Hotz is a top franchisee of the company, is based out of Columbus, Ohio, and has ran his franchise with HomeVestors since 2013.
Prior to being in real estate, Jeff served in the Marines and US Navy. Today he discusses how linking up with a proven franchise has helped him grow his investing business and his real estate portfolio, and how he's had to adapt and shift as the market has changed over the years. We also discuss their in-house lending and private money arm that has allowed him to acquire properties and execute on the 5 exit strategies for each property he runs across: Assign, Wholesale, Wholetail, Retail, and Rental.

Clint Harris originally was in medical sales and used real estate as a way to build income & wealth on the side. He built a portfolio of single-family homes, BRRRR's, small Multi-Family, short-term rentals. You name it, he's dabbled in it. What he found was all of these may have helped build income & wealth, yet didn't necessarily give the location and time freedom he was desiring for his future.
He linked up working as a General Partner & doing Investor Relations for Nomad Capital and shifted his focus to syndication of self-storage units. This past year, his team helped turn 2 vacant Kmart stores, an old Piggly Wiggly grocery store, and 3 warehouses and turned them into $100M of Class A, climate-controlled, self storage units. Their goal is to hit $500M in assets in 5 years and $1B in assets in 10 years. Clint is also the host of the Truly Passive Income Podcast, and founded Going Coastal Property Management, a short-term rental managing company servicing almost 100 units in North Carolina.

Scott A Stanfield started his professional path by earning a PhD in Engineering, which led to 15 years as a research scientist and the Air Force Research Laboratory. He published 14 scientific journal articles and presented over 30 papers at scientific conferences. However, his desire to live life on his terms led him to real estate in 2010. He started with it being a side investment, and by 2017 he was in 7 states, and had amassed a portfolio of over $3M through turnkey rentals. His latest venture is founding Tuxedo Press and published his book "Passive Profits: The Turnkey Rental Investor's Guide," which encapsulates his real estate investment expertise and success. His goal is to empower individuals to achieve financial independence through informed, strategic investments in turnkey properties and other investment vehicles.

Jenn started out as a middle school English teacher while Joe was stuck working at a car dealership in Upstate New York. Over time, they slowly started chipping away at their real estate goals through the use of creative financing and the rent to own strategy. What started out as a 1 month long trip to Florida turned into them taking 45 days to pack up their lives in New York, sell their primary residence and permanently move down to Florida, where they now homeschool their 2 kids while pursuing their real estate goals in warmer weather.
