Andrew and Sara - Intimacy in Marriage: Creating Something Out of Nothing - Meeting 115
08/19/22 • 64 min
Andrew and Sara were a previous speaker on meeting 83. This is a fantastic follow-up to that meeting. Here is a little about Andrew and Sara.
I am Andrew, and a 47 year old recovering sexaholic, sober over 6 years. I joined SA fellowship over 11 years ago, . My primary fellowship is Sexaholics Anonymous, i have sponsor and few sponsees, I have also worked the steps in CODA (codependency program). I am also clean from drugs for over 23 years. Recently I started to do part-time work as an addiction therapist in a small clinic that specializes in sex addiction. In recovery I found God and God's guidance, and thanks to His grace I have been married for more than 2 years to my lovely wife Sara whom I first met in SA. I am living the life I had never expected to be possible for me.
My name is Sara. I am a 30 year old recovering sex addict, sober from lust thanks to God's grace for more than 4.5 years. I have worked the 12 step program with a sponsor and served as a sponsor to other female sex addicts in our fellowship. Since I am married to another recovering sex addict I am also part of the S-Anon fellowship which helps me to address the patterns of codependency and heal from them as well. When I first joined the SA fellowship I was a broken woman. I felt like my life was over. I reached my lowest low and didn't expect there was any decent life possible after that. But God in His goodness made me recover rapidly and soon after gave me my wonderful husband and best friend- Andrew. We have our highs and lows but mutual faith and the 12 steps principles keep us close and make our marriage flourish.

Deb in WV - Intimacy with Self, Others, and Higher Power - Meeting 114
Deb in WV, her chosen topic is Intimacy with Self, Others, and Higher Power. Here is a little about her, written in her own words: In 2012, I went online to research fellowships that start with the letter “S” in order to help someone else... and found a pamphlet that is now called, “Intimacy Avoidance – Another Aspect of Sex Addiction.” Identifying with several characteristics from the list of symptoms in that pamphlet, I began attending SAA meetings with the focus of intimacy and sexual avoidance. Powerful changes in my life have occurred as a result. I am discovering what intimacy truly means and what it feels like, and I enjoy helping others on that same journey.
Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path. We come together from all places, faiths and backgrounds to gain tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path. Speakers from our past meetings have represented many fellowships and identify with addictions with such variety of alcoholism, drugs, food, sex, gambling, theft, co-dependency, and the anon groups, just to name a few.
We invite recovering addicts with at least 1 year sobriety and who are actively working their recovery in their respective fellowships to share their experience, strength and hope on a live Zoom webinar, each Friday at 12:00 pm central time, for 20-25 minutes. Then, we, the live audience, get the opportunity to ask questions of the speaker for another 20-25 minutes.

Evie S - How I Work My Recovery Program - Meeting 116
Evie found Codependents Anonymous (CoDA) when CoDA was just a year old and has been working her CoDA recovery program for almost 35 years. She has done service throughout most of that time at every level of the Fellowship which has supported her recovery growth. She found CoDA after many years of therapy and other personal development efforts and believes that CoDA and the 12 steps has given her the most important tools she needed to heal her relationships, especially with members of her family of origin. For 31 of those years Evie was in a committed relationship/marriage with another member of CoDA. Their relationship went through many periods of struggle and, thanks to their CoDA recovery program, it became truly loving and supportive as they supported each other in their ongoing recovery journey.
