Hey Race Invaders. Big thank you for coming back to the show. Today we’re going remedial, to an 084 class. Namely? Why the phrase, “I don’t see color” is deeply problematic and unhelpful. Why now? Because we’ve seen an uptick in it’s use and we want to nip that shit in the bud.
Also, we have a good time talking about why Koreans and Indians loved Black Panther. Thanks for letting us rant for 40 minutes, it feels good to be back.

I’ll be honest Race Invaders, Episode 33 with Malcolm Gin was one of my favorite while Alok is on holiday. Why? Well for starters, the technology was in place: home studio, microphone, earphones were all perfect. I mean, Mal consulted me with doing a setup before hand and technically this conversation was flawless. Okay, but what about the content?
Mal was easy to talk to, and since we are from the same generation, there was an easy cadence to how we spoke. We speak about trans issues, because Mal was born intersexed and identifies as Trans. We talk about doing social justice work, and how age has made us more radical, not less. (Frankly Mal is further left than me, and I welcome being challenged).
At any rate, please enjoy this conversation. I did. -Tim

We recorded on the last day of AAPI Heritage month. We managed to be Asian the entire month and not get threatened by white guys with knives. Lucky us.
In this episode, Tim wonders if the Left and the Far Left are seeing much more of a rift, and Alok tells us about the Overton Window which is, “An aproach of identifying which ideas define the domain of acceptability within a democracy’s possible governmental policy. Proponents of policies outside the window seek to persuade or educate the public in order to move and/or expand the window.”
We touch upon Rosanne and her racist shitfit, but to the larger point when we should or shouldn’t shoulder the emotional labor on what racism is and what it looks like.
