Punky Power: An Unofficial Punky Brewster Podcast and Together We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver Spoons Podcast
Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver Spoons Podcast. Today, I covered S5E6: Rick Moves Out, which aired on October 20, 1986. In this episode Rick moves into the guest house for some privacy, but that's easier said than done when friends and strangers consider it home away from home. This episode was good, I mean teenage me enjoyed seeing Rick in just a towel and this episode had a surprising amount of guest stars who would later go on to be in popular sitcoms, Rob Stone (Kevin Owens, Mr. Belvedere), Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie Spano, Saved By The Bell)and Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing, Friends). and S5E7: Man to Man, which aired on October 27, 1986. In this episode Edward doesn't feel like celebrating his birthday after Rick beats him at tennis for the first time. Kate struggles to learn Japanese for an overseas conference. Edward got on my nerves this episode, his being a sad sack because he turned 42 or 43 (I can't remember) he's acting like he's 70 , making old man jokes and he can't handle his son beating him at tennis. Poor Kate hiring a tutor to learn how to speak Japanese for a overseas conference turns out she's a horrible student and her instructor could care less as long as he gets paid. However the jokes on her later on, that makes this side plot less like a meaningless waste of time. Join me next week when I cover S5E8: Hey, Mrs. Robinson, which aired on November 3, 1986. In this episode Kate feels left out when her old college friend, now an editor for a rock magazine, seems to have more in common with Rick - which only gets worse when she and Edward start to worry that she's interested in more than Rick's friendship. and S5E9: Rick's Learning Problem, which aired on November 10, 1986. In this episode Rick tutors a star football player, who must pass a history test in order to play for the championship. Edward gets the flu, and is getting on Rick and Kate's nerves. Full House: S7E17: The Last Dance (Grandparents Day Series)

Hey Tanner Fans, Angela Bowen, here the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, I conclude the Grandparents Day series with the final episode Full House S7E17: The Last Dance, which aired on February 8, 1994. In this episode during his visit to San Francisco, Jesse's beloved grandfather, Papouli, dies in his sleep. Jesse and Michelle are both devastated as they try to come to terms with his death. I'd put off recording this episode for as long as I could, I wanted to wait until I was emotionally ready and could handle watching it again. I remember watching this episode when it first aired and realizing the promo that aired days before this episode was correct, this was an episode you shouldn't miss. For the first time we were seeing the Tanners/Katsopolis and Joey openly grieve someone who had passed away. Granted the two most affected by Papouli's passing where Jesse and Michelle. I loved the close relationship shared between Papouli and Michelle with learning a Greek dance and baking in the kitchen and his wise stories, there had to be a bond there between them just like Jesse had with his grandfather when he was a little boy to get that heartbreaking scene at the end with Jesse and Michelle, where they break down in each others arms, finally able to release that pain and hurt they had been holding in. Now I'd seen the episode a few times over the years courtesy of Hulu, but there were key scenes that were left out, that in watching this uncut DVD version, I was surprised helped piece some things together for me. In the beginning of the episode Danny and Joey are at the kitchen table preparing grape leaves and they're talking about going fishing when they were kids with Danny's father and how they dreamed one day when they were grown they would buy their own boat. One, I liked that we got a little tidbit of Danny and his dad because we don't know much about him and two this scene helped piece together how they ended up with the boat towards the end. The other scene I feel like I had never seen was with Danny and Michelle in her bedroom as she is asking her father why Papouli had to die, Danny just tells her he was old and time on this earth is short. He tells her to come to him with any questions and tells her they'll help each other through as a family. I thought the scene was ok, but honestly neither Bob Saget or whichever Olsen twin who was playing Michelle in this scene brought their A game to the table. I get it we needed to hold out for the powerhouse scene between Jesse and Michelle at the end, but this scene just fell flat for me and was kinda weak sauce. Overall, it was good to see this episode again in it's full unedited glory. Join me next week when I begin the new series for NOVEMBER, Back to School Part 2 Series, where I kick things off with Full house S2E17: El problema Grande de DJ, which aired on March 10, 1989. In this episode DJ gets a "D" in Spanish. Danny goes to try and find out what was going on and talks to the teacher. The teacher explains that DJ just wasn't trying. She comes over to the house later and labels things in Spanish. then she and Danny kiss. Dj and her friends come home and see them kissing and everyone laughs at her. Then Danny has to decide whether to continue to see the teacher or to respect DJ and her feelings. Have a great weekend everyone! To EMAIL The Podcast Go To: [email protected]

Full House: S2E17: El Problema Grande de DJ (Back To School Part 2 Series)

Happy Full House Friday Tanner Fans, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, I'm covering the first episode in a new Full House Series, Back To School Part 2, with Full House S2E17: El Problema Grande de DJ, which aired on March 10, 1989. I thought this was a good and fun episode with many things going on, DJ's D in Spanish leading to Danny confronting and falling for DJ's teacher Senorita Linda Mosley. I was really angry with DJ this episode her feeling she should get an A even though she she gave up on the work, even going so far as to think the teacher hates her and that's why she got a bad grade. She was selfish and couldn't accept the fact that the blame for the bad grade lies solely with her. She also expected Danny to just talk to her teacher and her grade would automatically be changed. UGH! Poor Stephanie takes a vow of silence (I bring up the character Dwyane from the movie Little Miss Sunshine taking a vow of silence, let's just say that didn't work out so well for him, spoiler if you didn't see the movie)after a note from her teacher labels her a chatterbox due to her talking in class, however she chalks it up to kids asking her for help. and little Michelle almost shot at stardom with the Mr. Marshmallow ad campaign. Bad parenting on Jesse and Joey's part leaving a two year old with a large bag of Mini Marshmallows that probably weighs as much as she, by the day of the commercial she has polished off almost the entire bag claiming "tummy full". Now don't get me wrong, I love marshmallows as much as the next person but even I'm not going to polish off a bag in 24 hours. Clearly what we didn't see, Michelle with severe bathroom issues and vomiting so much white goo, the Stay Puff'd Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters would be envious. Nick and Irene (Jesse's parents make an appearance) long enough for tushie grabs courtesy of Irene and Nick's obsession with Tina Louise from Gilligan's Island to come to light. So much fun and laughs and Tanner Teachable Moments! Join me next week for the next episode in the Back to School Part 2 Series, Full House S5E17: Spellbound, which aired on January 28, 1992. In this episode Stephanie participates in a spelling bee against her rival Davey Chu and Michelle is determined to read and let me tell you she's got some teachers with interesting teaching methods Danny and DJ. Have a great weekend everyone and please continue to stay safe. To EMAIL The Podcast Go To: [email protected]
