I liked Amy's early standup. It was edgy and unique. I liked her first movie, but I'm growing cold on her. The I feel pretty movie was pretty bad. She said she started this podcast because she heard you could make money at it, and she did. Spotify has paid her a lot of money (which is odd as you can still get the show in Apple PodcastsFor me, there was nothing special about this. Do you care what Amy feels about love? It took her almost four minutes to get to it, and her description of her podcast is "this is the podcast where we podcast" which in code means, "I'm famous, and we put no planning into this at all." The audio sounded exactly like anybody else's that was recorded in their apartment. Most of the episodes are around 30-40 minutes. This first impression was not a great one, but this is her first crack at podcasting. I do find it odd, that her website doesn't even list this anywhere on her site.

What I Liked About This Episode
The audio was good, and the delivery was good. The host did a good job of establishing the topic, and the guest. He had a nice fluffy opening question and then got right to the meaty questions that we all know are coming.
What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing
I always enjoy it when someone gives me the exact link to where I can find the show notes/description.

Don't try to be radio, and use those catchphrases. Just take your transition music and fade it in as you transition to the interview.
You did a great job if introducing the guest, but you never really introduced the show (vs the episode).
Jimmy Falon and Ben Affleck on SNL "And We're Back."

What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing
The audio quality on this show is awful. The first pre-roll sounds like it's in a fishbowl. Then it's followed by better audio that is crippled by plosives that rattle your tonsils. For something with Tom Brady associated with it, this doesn't cut it.

Have you ever been listening to someone telling a story, maybe a true story about something that happened to them, and what they were saying was just so incredible you could hardly believe it? Or maybe you’re driving along in your car listening to a podcast, or maybe you’re listening to someone talking on the radio, and what they’re talking about is really intriguing, and even though you’ve actually gotten back home and you’re sitting in your driveway, you can’t turn it off and get out of the car, because you just have to hear the rest of it.That’s the kind of story I want to have on each episode of this podcast. On this show, I’ll be having a conversation with someone who has found themselves in an extremely unusual situation. A situation that they never expected to be in, but there they were. Maybe the spot was a scary one, like they were taken hostage during a bank robbery, or maybe they survived a plane crash. Or maybe it’s a really happy situation like they won millions of dollars in the lottery. The possibilities are endless, because there are so many people with so many incredible stories out there.
Whatever my guest has been through, I want to get them to tell that story. I have a natural curiosity so I have lots of questions to ask. My goal, just like the name of this podcast, is to find out – What Was That Like.

This show has great episode titles, a great description, a great intro and a great idea for a podcast. If I had any kind of complaint is you had such a great topic and did such a great job of doing the intro, that was I ready for the guest. You didn't have to sell me anymore, I was ready to hear the story.Get A Full Review

I loved the way this show started. The quick clip, the quick introduction, and then face first into the interview. That was 100% awesome, and well done. You then asked your guest 1 question (what did you do before podcasting) and he gave you his life story. The answer is "I was trying to be a professional drummer. Then he gave you his life getting into podcast, but you didn't ask him for that. Then later he gets into how he updated his twitter profile. Does knowing he changes his twitter profile really help me as a creative? I know your quest and I'm sure he brought value (as I like Aaron) but I kind of feel like you let your guest run away with the interview. With that said, the podcast rodeo show is a different listening experience for me. I'm not listening like a normal listener. I'm listening to every little detail, pacing, audio quality, etc and I believe this makes me more critical than when I'm "just listening for fun." So this show started great, and if I was "just listening" and note reviewing I probably wouldn't have noticed that your guest gave a very long answer to your opening question. You did try to pull him back to your creative audience on question two and that was good. For only having a few episodes under your belt, I thought this was good, and I may actually listen to the rest of this episode as I'm your target audience.

Sounds Like a Cult
Podcast Rodeo Show: Reviews and First Impressions of Your Podcast
09/24/22 • 16 min
Description
Podcast Rodeo Show: Reviews and First Impressions of Your Podcast A podcast about the modern-day “cults” we all follow. Hosts Isa Medina and Amanda Montell ask the culty questions we’re all wondering... Do you think SoulCycle is a cult? What about Elon Musk stans? Or the Royal Family? What about spiritual influencers? Is Instagram itself a cult? We’re Sounds Like A Cult, a podcast that analyzes a different zeitgeisty group every week to try and answer the big question: This group sounds like a cult, but is it really? And if so, how bad is it?
What I Liked About This Episode
The intro using listener voices was different and it sets the stage of "Do I agree or disagree with these people?." I did like that once all the housekeeping was done, you got right to the point and answered the questions I was thinking.
What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing
Isa needs some mic technique training. Get a pop filter or windscreen. Three advertisements (4 if you count patreon) had me right on the edge of pressing next. In the end I wanted to hear more.

Quick Comment
I picked this episode as I know two people who said they were listening to it. This somewhat builds up expectations. After all, this is a WONDERY show, so I'm expecting this episode to knock me out of my chair (and that may not be fair).
What I Liked About This Episode
The production and soundscaping was off the charts.
What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing
The pace was a bit slow for me, and what are the stakes? So these two people hate each other, is there a cage match to the death? Why do I care about these people?

What I Liked About This Episode
The audio quality is top-notch, and the delivery is really good. You do a great job of explaining what the show is about and getting right to your guest. You give a table of contents so the listener can decide if they want to stick around or not.
The production was top-notch with great audio and presentation.
What I Thought Could Use Some Polishing
For Me, while I get why we read someone's bio, I'm more interested in why the host is excited to have someone on their show. The other thing my logical mind is wanting is a goal. We learn about podcast hosts so I can ???? (be a better podcaster? ).
I never understand the question, "what was podcasting like in 2005?" Now, consider your source, for me, it is somewhat of a boring question (because I was there) and I never quite get what value that delivers for the audience. But again, that's me - in this case - talking about me. As this is more of "the story of the host" I can see why the question is there.
