It feels weird to start a podcast description with the words 'as discussed' but here we are.On today's episode:As discussed in the last episode, Sony has now officially revealed details about Project Spartacus. That's not what they're calling it. That was just an internal codename that had leaked. It's simply the 'New PlayStation Plus' which now has tiers which I describe in detail and I also explain why I feel the base tier is still the best value for most gamers.I review Horizon: Forbidden West after spending a little over 49 hours with it and finishing the main story.I talk about why Sony's acquisition of Haven studios feels different than their other acquisitions. The delay of the sequel to The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (bummer, I know). As usual, here are all the links for your reference:PlayStation Spartacus is official:PS Blog post: https://blog.playstation.com/2022/03/29/all-new-playstation-plus-launches-in-june-with-700-games-and-more-value-than-ever/Gamesindustry interview with Jim Ryan, CEO of PlayStation: https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2022-03-28-playstations-jim-ryan-our-games-could-suffer-if-we-put-them-straight-into-ps-plusPlayStation acquires Haven Studios:https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2022-03-21-jade-raymond-and-hermen-hulst-on-why-sony-is-buying-havenhttps://www.havenstudios.com/enBOTW 2 delayed:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_vgseuw_o8As always, please feel free to get in touch with me over on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube or Discord. Happy New Year, everyone! 2024 is here and PLNX - The Video Games Podcast is back with a brand new episode.

In this one, I talk about some of the big games I played in 2023. Think of it like a mini-review of the games I absolutely loved from 2023, of sorts.

The games I played and loved in 2023 (the ones I talk about in this episode):

Marvel's Midnight Suns (4:20) - The fact that it released in the tail end of 2022 means I only got to play it in 2023, so that's the game I started my year with.

Hogwarts Legacy (6:39) - Controversial, yes. But if you take that controversy away, it's a beautiful and faithful rendition of The Wizarding World (or Potterverse, if that's what you prefer).

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (8:08) - A great game, marred by a broken launch. This is the game that has put me off from pre-ordering games in future.

Sea Of Stars (13:32) - One of the many indie darlings of 2023. The Game Awards 2023 Best Independent Game. Love, love, love this. The game is inspired by classics like Chrono Trigger. The developers of Sea Of Stars, Sabotage Studio had a full circle moment when the creator of Chrono Trigger praised the game.

Final Fantasy XVI and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (18:21) - Nothing more to say about these (hence, clubbed together). Thouroughly enjoyed the experience of both of these high-profile games.

The Finals (19:44) - I've liked a first-person shooter after many, many years and I can't stop playing this. Check out some of my noob-ish gameplay videos here on my YouTube. I also address the controversy surrounding the game's use of AI voice overs.

The one game (among many others) I did not play in 2023 (which I really should've):

Baldur's Gate III (27:30): Already have it in my library, but slightly apprehensive since it's a C-RPG, and I'm unsure how it'll be on a PlayStation 5. But, I want to approach it with an open mind and give it a shot. Let's see how it goes...

play

02/26/22 • 17 min

Hello again! I'm back with another episode of The PLNX Games Podcast and this one, is all about Horizon: Forbidden West. It's a game I was eagerly waiting for and it finally launched a little over a week ago.I managed to play it for about 15 hours and I thought I'd share my impressions with you. As you might imagine, it feels I've barely scratched the surface of the game and there is still so much more to explore. But, I've got a good feel of the main aspects of the game, especially the story, the characters, the quests, the graphics, and the combat. So, you will hear me talk about all of those things.Above all, you will also hear me talk about the 'essence' of the game! Something that I feel truly makes this game a proper sequel and how Guerrilla Games have tapped into that 'essence.'TL;DR version: It's awesome and I cannot wait to delve deeper into the world of Horizon: Forbidden West.As always, please feel free to get in touch with me over on Twitter, Instagram, or YouTube. Please share the podcast with anyone you know might be interested in gaming. As you know, I'm just starting out and it'll help me out if your friends take the time to tune in.
