12 - My 2023 Gaming Year In Review - The Top Games I Played (and one BIG game I didn’t)
Happy New Year, everyone! 2024 is here and PLNX - The Video Games Podcast is back with a brand new episode.
In this one, I talk about some of the big games I played in 2023. Think of it like a mini-review of the games I absolutely loved from 2023, of sorts.
The games I played and loved in 2023 (the ones I talk about in this episode):
Marvel's Midnight Suns (4:20) - The fact that it released in the tail end of 2022 means I only got to play it in 2023, so that's the game I started my year with.
Hogwarts Legacy (6:39) - Controversial, yes. But if you take that controversy away, it's a beautiful and faithful rendition of The Wizarding World (or Potterverse, if that's what you prefer).
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (8:08) - A great game, marred by a broken launch. This is the game that has put me off from pre-ordering games in future.
Sea Of Stars (13:32) - One of the many indie darlings of 2023. The Game Awards 2023 Best Independent Game. Love, love, love this. The game is inspired by classics like Chrono Trigger. The developers of Sea Of Stars, Sabotage Studio had a full circle moment when the creator of Chrono Trigger praised the game.
Final Fantasy XVI and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (18:21) - Nothing more to say about these (hence, clubbed together). Thouroughly enjoyed the experience of both of these high-profile games.
The Finals (19:44) - I've liked a first-person shooter after many, many years and I can't stop playing this. Check out some of my noob-ish gameplay videos here on my YouTube. I also address the controversy surrounding the game's use of AI voice overs.
The one game (among many others) I did not play in 2023 (which I really should've):
Baldur's Gate III (27:30): Already have it in my library, but slightly apprehensive since it's a C-RPG, and I'm unsure how it'll be on a PlayStation 5. But, I want to approach it with an open mind and give it a shot. Let's see how it goes...
