B.A. Johnston is a Canadian treasure: a wild performer, a prolific songwriter, and a truly unique musician. His offbeat songs can be crass, but truly charming and loveable. His ode to being a 'Bad Cat Sitter' from his 8th studio album 'Mission Accomplished' is our featured track this week from the 32nd Pinball Session. Before leading into our feature track, we'll hear an interview with Simone Schmidt as she plays the Pinball Studio's 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' pinball machine and talks about pinball and music... Fiver is the latest of many projects by major talent Simone Schmidt. She has been to Pinball Studios once before, heading another band 'The Highest Order' (Session 11). 'Smoke and Steam' comes from her debut EP 'Lost the Plot,' featured on the 33rd Pinball Session. Kacy and Clayton are second cousins who grew up very near each other in southern Saskatchewan. They strong ties to a classic roots sound - Leadbelly, The Stanley Brothers, Alan Lomax and more - is clear in their subtle, scaled down and beautiful folk songs. Today we feature their song 'Henry Lee.' We get to hear some studio chatter as David Francey preps for his session. A winner of three Junos, a SOCAN Folk Award and John Lennon Songwriting Award, Francey is a national treasure and we were grateful to have him visit Pinball Studios.
