EPISODE 108 - The Sudden Departure of Granger Taylor
TIMESTAMP - Episode starts at 18:40
Granger Taylor was a Canadian eccentric and self-taught engineer known for his mysterious disappearance in 1980. Born on October 7, 1948, in Duncan, British Columbia, Taylor displayed an exceptional aptitude for mechanics from a young age. He built a reputation in his community for restoring vintage vehicles and machinery, including cars, airplanes, and even a locomotive.
Taylor was fascinated by the idea of extraterrestrial life and space travel, which led him to construct a UFO-shaped shelter in his backyard. He believed that he had been in contact with aliens and was convinced they would take him on a journey through the cosmos.
On November 29, 1980, Taylor left a note for his family, stating that he was going on a 42-month interstellar journey with aliens. He drove off in his truck, and neither he nor the vehicle was ever seen again. Despite extensive searches, the only potential clue was the discovery of fragments of his truck in a nearby forest in 1986, suggesting an explosion.
Granger Taylor's disappearance remains an unsolved mystery, and he has become a figure of fascination and speculation, with theories ranging from alien abduction to a tragic accident.

EPISODE 109 - Mary Toft and Her Baby Bunnies
TIMESTAMP - Story starts at 16:30
The story of Mary Toft is one of the most bizarre hoaxes in medical history. In 1726, Mary Toft, a peasant woman from Surrey, England, claimed to have given birth to rabbits. She convinced local doctors by presenting them with various animal parts, claiming they emerged during her labor. News of this strange phenomenon spread, and prominent physicians, including the king's surgeon Nathaniel St. André, came to investigate.
Initially, many medical professionals believed her claims, attributing the phenomenon to "maternal impression," a then-popular theory suggesting that a mother's experiences could physically affect her unborn child. However, suspicions grew as more physicians examined her and the circumstances of her alleged births.
The hoax was eventually exposed when Toft confessed under pressure. She admitted to inserting dead rabbits and other animal parts into her body, which she later pretended to give birth to. The story caused a scandal, humiliating the medical community and serving as a cautionary tale about gullibility and the importance of scientific skepticism.
