
Talking to People While Out About Network Marketing

Network Marketing QUESTION
In a recent coaching call with one of my own team members, she mentioned to me - What I am doing is not working, just talking to people. I wasn’t sure what she meant by this, so I asked her to elaborate.
She said - I am talking to people while I am out and about, watching for people who are shopping for and buying the products I offer, but doing so at the store. I stop them, share some details on what I do and give them my card with my website on it.
No one has called me or contacted me. Why isn't this working?
ANSWER
No, it's probably not, and most likely, only 1 in a thousand ever will call you, even if that many.
Let’s think about it for a minute.
Think about permission based marketing and intrusive marketing.
Which is this? Was this person expecting to bump into you? Are they open? Or might they possibly feel that your interruption is intrusive and maybe even unwelcome?
Do you ever walk out to your car and find flyers under the windshield wipers? What do you typically do with those? THROW THEM AWAY, often without even reading them.
When you attend a trade show or any type of event with booths, do you ever find yourself gathering information, or having it thrust at you, and you put it in a bag. Then, what happens to that bag and it’s contents?
Success in marketing happens through rapport building. Rapport building happens through asking questions, finding a need, and then filling that need. It’s hard to do all of this on the “first date!”
Does this mean you shouldn’t talk to people while out and about? Of course not, just be intentional in how you do so and consider the other person and how they may respond, above and beyond all else. Get your own agenda out of the way.
Ask if they would be open to hearing about another product line much like what they are currently shopping for? ALWAYS get their contact details and never leave it up to them to contact you.

This is GenY, Global and Network Marketing at its finest!
Lorenzo - go to college, get good grades, and became a bio engineer, and ended up injecting and killing rats.
Didn’t love his boss!
A friend called him and asked him to take a look at a new business he was starting.
Lorenzo had never heard of Network Marketing and he was wide open to it.
Get two people, who get two people and so on! Well, he crashed and burned to begin with, and then found the company that was the right fit and he jumped in full time! Left his job and is going for it.
We work 8 hour days for someone else - put in that time consistently for yourself and you can make the income you need.
He was always open to entrepreneurship after an internship in Hawaii where he saw people kite surfing and living a great life, during the day, during the week.
That kicked in his entrepreneurial spirit but had to overcome the instant gratification mentality.
With his second company, things clicked for him after a few months of doing basically nothing. He did “quitter kind of stuff.”
He decided to plug in and listen to calls from various trainers and the company and begin getting excited and realized it is an actual business that takes consistency.
He decided to do Network Marketing right! It’s simple but not easy! The shift began to take place.
It was mostly a mindset shift he needed.
The network marketing tools were there and he knew what to say and do, but he had to shift his mind, become consistent for “long enough” and get rid of the instant gratification mentality.
Once you start taking action, you learn the rest and it falls into place.
How did he build the business? Start with your warm market first; know how to approach them and do it right. He was not in his home country (Sri Lanka) so he had to stretch outside of that boundary. He could have used the excuse - I don’t have enough people to talk to - but he decided not to.
He decided to start cold calling realtors after listening to Todd Falcone’s CDs on this process.
Now, he is fearless and focuses on calling Real Estate agents as his main process.
Was he fearless taking on this approach? He was confident because of a previous sales job he had had. Was he competent? That had to be developed, but if you keep it simple, use the scripts and keep it simple, you’ll get there. He had to develop his posture and learn to say less.
In fact, today he would say he is great at it - positive affirmations!
How did you keep at it even on those days you didn’t want to?
He speaks affirmations to himself for a long time. He tells himself he is great and has discipline. And, it works! He doesn’t want to be a liar to himself!
He schedules time slots on his calendar so he is organized. Telling yourself you’ll do two hours a day is...

Network Marketing and Social Media Question
A question I get regularly from those who are blogging and working on building their online presence and attracting their perfect target audience to them is -
How do I create content? What do I create and why would anyone listen to me, I’m not an expert!
ANSWER
Start by sharing your own experiences. What are you learning? What are you reading and listening to? What events are you attending? What actions steps you are taking?
Expert status - what it means - you know just a little more!
When you read a Network Marketing or self development book, listen to a training on Social Media or attend an event, think of the education in two ways -
What will I learn and implement?
What can I give to others and impact them through what I am learning?
Once you consume information and training, put it into action, then immediately share what you learned, what you did to take action, what you learned again, what you tweaked along the way, how others might also do this.
It’s a 3 step process -
Invest in your own learning and advancement. Money and time.
Learn from your investment and take action on it!
Teach - cement your own learning by teaching it to others and walk the journey together.
Think of it this way - If you saw value in the information, don’t you think others will as well? How many notebooks of notes do you have from events? Stacked on a bookshelf somewhere or tucked in a drawer?
Did you know you have thousands of dollars of uncashed checks sitting there, if you aren’t using and sharing that knowledge?
Creating content and offering value is easy when you think to yourself - what am I learning and experiencing? How can I turn this into a learning experience for others and deliver a positive impact on many?
