Judging is Not For the Believer

"If we are judging that is not good works, if we are condemning that is not good works.” - JB

Episode Summary:

Are you spreading God's word with love and mercy, or with judgment?

This week JB delves deep into the role of Christians and the importance of showing love and mercy to others, rather than judgment or condemnation, for their choices and sins.

JB emphasizes that as Christians, we are called to follow God's example extending patience, and kindness, to those still in sin, and loving others unconditionally, regardless of their current beliefs or actions because only God knows the right time for each person to receive Him.

Tune in to this soul-stirring episode and discover how to embody the true essence of Christianity by spreading God's word with love, mercy, and understanding.

In today's episode:

  • The duty of self-proclaimed Christians is to spread the word of God, not to judge others for their choices, or their sins.
  • Only God knows when each person is ready to receive him, and until that time, we as Christians are meant to love, and be merciful to them.
  • God is patient, and kind even to those still in sin, we should be the same.
  • All sins are equal in God’s eyes, there is no hierarchy of better or worse sin.
  • We should show mercy and grace to those who are not yet ready to receive God, for only God knows their heart.
  • God has instructed us to love others, not to condemn them.
  • We can hold our brothers and sister in Christ accountable for their actions, but it should be out of love.
  • The importance of self-reflection in order to speak out of love and mercy, not judgment and condemnation.
  • Focusing on the good works the Lord has called his people to do.

Weekly Scripture(s):

  • Romans 2:1-6 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. (2) Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. (3) So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? (4) Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? (5) But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. (6) God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”
  • James 2:10-13 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. (11) For he who said, “You shall not commit adultery,” also said, “You shall not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker. (12) Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, (13) because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
  • Matthew 7:1-5 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. (2) For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (3) “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? (4) How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? (5) You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
  • Galatians 6:1 Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.
  • Ephesians 2:1-9
  • Romans 1:18-32
