N4L 042: We Love Book Blogs!

Nonfiction4Life

In addition to publishing podcasts, Nonfiction4Life posts book blogs so you can find even more content in your favorite categories:

  • BIOGRAPHIES & MEMOIRS
  • BUSINESS & ENTREPRENEURSHIP
  • COMMUNITY-BUILDING
  • HEALTH & WELLNESS
  • HOME & FAMILY
  • PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
  • CHILDREN’S NONFICTION

Our blogs feature true stories and great ideas, but these are a little different from standard book reviews. Instead, we give you some background about the book, then we offer just three points or highlights. From there, we let you decide if you want to read it or move on to another compelling true story or a different book with great ideas for living well.

N4L 041: "Grandma Gatewood’s Walk" by Ben Montgomery

Grandma Gatewood’s Walk: The Inspiring Story of the Woman Who Saved the Appalachian Trail is the sensational true account of Emma Gatewood, the first woman to hike the Appalachian Trail (A.T.)

Ben Montgomery, Gatewood’s blood relative and now Pulitzer-Prize-winning reporter, bases his New York Times bestseller on personal diaries, trail journals, newspaper articles, and countless personal interviews. We learn that Emma Gatewood “through-hiked” the Appalachian Trail not once but twice, and then a third time in sections—all after the age of 65 and each time alone.

Literally and figuratively a trailblazer, Emma Gatewood provided vocal criticism that drew the necessary attention which very likely saved the A.T. from extinction.

N4L 043: Special Announcement from Nonfiction4Life

At Nonfiction4Life, we're celebrating the one-year anniversary of our first podcast. Today, we're rolling out our brand new YouTube channel! This new platform will help us extend our reach to readers and listeners who aren't on podcast platforms or who just don't know how to use them.

Also, YouTube's "closed caption" feature makes it possible for many to "listen" without using the volume control. We're especially happy the hard of hearing and deaf community now have equal and easy access to all our content.

Look for videos of our full-length podcasts as well as our "Tidbits." These short audio clips from the podcasts are both reminders and teasers, which are great to share with others. Most are less than one-minute long.

Soon, we'll be posting short book reviews and video streaming with authors. We also hope to feature you with your book groups, sharing your opinions and recommendations for great nonfiction.
