Episode Fourteen-Nature For All with The Minority Outdoor Alliance

Nature of Wellness ™️ Podcast

We'd love to hear from you about this episode.

A central theme in our show is that “Wellness and nature are for all.”

Nature is the great equalizer. It does not care about any of the labels that we use to divide and disconnect from one another.

We continue to use this platform to discuss the many barriers to accessing nature, which we hope will continue to be points of focus in policy and practice.

One of our goals for the show is to be a mouthpiece for the amazing work being done to eliminate barriers and create access and equity for all.

Welcome to Episode Fourteen of The Nature of Wellness Podcast.

We are extremely excited about this one.

On the latest episode, we sat down with Ashley and Durrell Smith, founders of the Minority Outdoor Alliance.

This dynamic couple has created something extremely special, using the natural world as a backdrop for “cultivating inclusivity for a healthier outdoors.”

Join us as we talk about their incredible journeys into the outdoor world, the importance of bringing nature into a relationship, and creating a more multicultural and collective community in the natural world.

The Smiths discuss how to encourage people from diverse backgrounds and cultures to build the outdoors into their lives, the healing that occurs between different groups in nature, and their amazing annual event to celebrate “nature for everyone.”

This was truly a conversation for all.

Episode Thirteen- Meditation and Nature with Sharon Salzberg

We'd love to hear from you about this episode.

Nature teaches us through stories if we choose to listen. One powerful example is the interconnectedness of all things. We are all part of an ever-changing, dynamic ecosystem.

As humans, we often feel as though we are separate from the natural world and from one another, especially in a society that focuses on more and faster personal progress.

Learning to quiet our minds and be part of the moment allows us to exist where life truly happens...right now.

Meditation and nature go hand-in-hand. The natural world is the perfect backdrop for building awareness of self and a genuine connection to the world around us.

Welcome to Episode Thirteen of The Nature of Wellness Podcast.

We are extremely excited about this conversation.

On the latest episode, we sat down with the one and only Sharon Salzberg, a meditation pioneer, world-renowned teacher, and New York Times bestselling author.

Sharon was one of the first to bring mindfulness and lovingkindness meditation to mainstream culture in America more than 45 years ago. She has inspired generations of meditators, teachers, organizations, and health and wellness influencers with her warmth and wisdom. She has personally impacted both of us on multiple levels.

Sharon discusses her incredible journey, the role meditation plays in positively impacting health and overall well-being, and how she interacts with the natural world.

Join us as we talk to Sharon about incorporating meditation into daily life, the power of loving kindness, and her amazing new book, Real Life: The Journey from Isolation to Openness and Freedom. This title releases on 4/11/23 (pre-order link below).

This was a conversation that left us both a bit different...in the most amazing way.

Episode Fifteen-Mental Health and Suicide Prevention with Recording Artist Lana Scott

We'd love to hear from you about this episode.

To kick off Mental Health Awareness Month, we wanted to create a bit of a different show today. This episode covers a few topics that are near and dear to our hearts, mental health, and suicide awareness. We have both been profoundly impacted by each, personally and professionally.

Welcome to Episode Fifteen of The Nature of Wellness Podcast.

We were extremely fortunate to have recording artist and mental health advocate Lana Scott join us on today’s episode. Lana was a Top 8 finalist on The Voice as a member of Team Blake Shelton. She is an incredibly gifted singer and songwriter, but more impressively, she is an incredible human being.

Lana’s passion for connecting with people through her music is unmatched, as she strives to inspire and uplift with every performance.

Join us as we discuss Lana’s journey, her passion for helping create awareness for suicide prevention, and how she decided to use her platform to make a difference. She shares how growing up in nature impacted her well-being and how a nature example inspired the message behind her new project.

Lana’s new song “Permanent” also releases today, with 50% of the streaming revenue going to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Lana talks with us about the personal meaning of the song, her desire to use her platform to advocate for mental health and suicide prevention, and the story behind the song and music video.

She also performed an acoustic version of “Permanent” for us on the show, which overwhelmed us both. Check it out anywhere you stream music today.

Please share this episode and the song with anyone you know that is struggling. Hopefully, they will understand, as the song states....” it ain’t permanent.”
Scroll down for multiple ways to support this project and share with those who can benefit. We are all in this together...

This episode left a permanent impression on both of us.
