Joby grew up in South Carolina and spent much of his Sunday mornings hunting and fishing, and not at Sunday service. Joby knew of God but knew nothing of Jesus being the propitiation of his sins. Pete grew up in Brooklyn with a single mom, because of a dad who was never present. Pete was a pastor's kid, but his dad was always out doing ministry and never at home. "That's what ministry was for me, my dad was off doing something great, but here we are on food stamps in section eight."Despite his dad being gone, Pete had a lot of amazing men that served as father figures in his life for certain seasons. Because of his relationship with his father Pete still struggles with male relationships. "As I've matured I have realized the benefit of being surrounded by other guys in any capacity." Pete credits the mentors, the father figures, in his life that have walked with him through tough seasons. Acknowledging his dad's flaws is not a criticism; it's allowed Pete to grow as a husband and father. The best thing we can do as men is to allow time and space for vulnerability. Vulnerability does not came naturally for men, but it's vital for growth. Generosity is simple, it is giving a resource that we have to meet a need. Biblical generosity is all about stewardship. All the resources we can use to be generous, don't come from us, God is the source and owner of all these resources. If we don't understand this it's hard for us to be generous. When we understand all we have is God's we are free to use these resources to do the work of the Lord. It is ultimately a blessing to be a part of the work that God is doing. "A lot of times we don't run out of resources, we run out of faith."We often look at generosity as a switch to turn on or turn off but God says there is an unlimited amount. God says in every situation be generous. "You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God." 2 Corinthians 9:11 (NIV). God wants you to unlock those resources he has given you. As you release your resources to the Lord, you can now focus on where the needs are.
