Blended: Family, Culture, Knowledge with Katie Rose
11/02/22 • 77 min
Are you navigating the great minefield of the blended family? Rich no doubt in treasure but with booby traps set everywhere by young and old alike, being the mamma in a blended family takes a skill, a centredness and a suppleness like no other family construct.
Katie Rose has spent more than 25 years exploring eastern philosophy in yoga and in ayurveda, a passion that was inexplicably present within her even as a small child; a child captivated by thoughts of India, a country she'd never been to before nor knew much about at all. Yet so drawn to it she was, that at aged 16 she set off from the conservative hamlet of her upbringing and embarked on the adventure that would open up the door to the rest of her life's purpose.
Using ALL of the tools from her years of study, Katie's unexpected life as a Mother of 5, has turned out to be her greatest ashram. This is an inspirational tale of global adventure distilled down to the most important one of all - that of being someone's mother, someone's partner and the discovery that every spiritual aspect has application and evolution within the home. This is the story of a contemporary woman overflowing with ancient knowledge, who has reached the great aspiration of - for the most part - liking herself.

Promoter of Festivals, Defier of Quadriplegia with Ben Tillman
Ben Tillman did not hold back on starting adult life. At aged 20 with no idea about business, he and his mates started a cafe that would morph into an art gallery, a bar, a music venue and eventually a festival called Yours and Owls. All of this kicking off around the same time as losing his father to a self-destructive spiral that would for a time feed his own.
In 2012 Ben would jump behind the wheel of car with his two mates after a night on the booze, a split second decision to risk the short drive home. Within moments the car was upside down. And Ben, whilst conscious and in no pain, could not move his body.
This is the story of the already bold life that proceeded that accident and of the phenomenal decade that came after. This is the school of finding acceptance for what is, whilst simultaneously, enthusiastically steering change. This is the odyssey of one man discovering the potency of subtle tools for grand results and the affect of his mind on his healing.

The Heart Of Life's Great Guarantee with Sara Tindley
Some of life's deepest and most important conversations are so often never had. Instead they languish behind the constructed veil of taboo or impoliteness, the most profound wisdoms left unshared. Leaving us all languishing in our own contemplative isolation
Sara Tindley has had a year none of us could conceive - thick with the heaviest blanket of grief, forced to acknowledge her own mortality, a catastrophic flood, all whilst being deeply engaged in motherhood, partnerhood, in the grand satisfaction of farming and the significance of writing songs to make sense of it all.
In just a year, lives completely changed - the loss of a daughter, a re-diagnosis and the most catastrophic of floods. This conversation is a profoundly rare opportunity to hear wisdom from inside the place we are all walking toward. It's a conversation of enduring the pains of human life and of the beauty and poetry that grows alongside.
If you're in the Northern Rivers, book your ticket for this remarkable woman's album launch Thursday 10th of November at Lismore's @theatrestarcourt And to witness the brilliance of Sara's gifted daughter Lily Bell-Tindley, watch the exquisitely moving Australian film Lou, in which she stars.
