MRM Episode 103 - Jonathan Egan
02/26/25 • 24 min
This podcast chat provides a great case study of risk management in action - and not just that but uses an upside risk (an opportunity) as the example.
My guest is Jonathan Egan, CEO and Founder of FabCast Solutions, a vertically integrated contract manufacturing company that specializes in engineered metal and plastic components for small-to-midcap companies.
Jonathan foresaw the increasing demand for nearshoring, and established FabCast Solutions SRL de CV in México to help them assist US businesses in relocating their operations from the Far East to North America.
This provided additional production capacity and cost savings.
Why Mexico you ask? Think of cheaper energy prices, raw material prices being unstable in East Asia, the various tariffs on imported Chinese goods coming into the US, and Mexico bringing more predictable production lead times!
This episode provides an insight into an organisation that has seen an opportunity and used risk management techniques to bring it to reality.
I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did!

MRM Episode 102 - Risk Outlook 2025
In this episode, Anthony discusses 10 risks that every organisation will (or should!) have on their risk register for 2025 along with some thoughts on how to prevent or mitigate them.
It won't come as any surprise to listeners that have worked in risk management for some time that the list looks somewhat familiar - perhaps just the priority changes periodically.
As always, we welcome your feedback and thoughts on potential guests for the program or topics you'd like to hear discussed.
We have a great roster of guests lined up for 2025 so stay tuned. Thanks again for listening!

MRM Episode 104 - Donna Dupont
My guest for this episode is Donna Dupont, Founder and Chief Strategist for Purple Compass. She is an award-winning designer and futurist, and brings skills and insights developed over 25 years working with leaders in healthcare, public safety, defense and security.
In our discussion, Donna explains the work she does helping organisations build their future literacy skills to navigate and lead change in today’s complex and uncertain world. By integrating theory and practice she assists organisations to strengthen their anticipatory and adaptive capabilities, strategic intelligence, and agility in learning to advance future policy and strategic planning for impact.
Donna is passionate about helping her clients learn and apply foresight to support organisational decision-making and advancing actions to mitigate future risk, enhance preparedness and adaptive capacity to disruptive events, and leverage opportunities for change, innovation and transformation.
Her unique style bridges systems thinking with strategic foresight to understand patterns and the potential evolution over time. She works with both quantitative and qualitative data, and designs processes to ensure confidence with insights and knowledge theories generated.
And Donna is well qualified to provide this foresight to organisation - she is a recipient of seven government awards at the provincial and federal level for outstanding achievement, excellence and partner relations in policy and strategic planning. Her futures research “Anticipation in Emergency Management, 2020” received awards from the Canadian Defence and Security Network, and the Association of Professional Futurists. Donna holds a Master of Design in Strategic Foresight & Innovation from OCAD University.
I hope you find this conversation as interesting as I did.
