Hellooooo! Welcome to Season 7 of Mads World, kicking off with Episode 1: Diaries of a Broken Vagina, Female Sexual Dysfunction with Fran Bushe!

This episode of Mads World is sponsored by Beducated. CLICK HERE: http://beducate.me/bg2244-mads to check them out for a 24 hour free trial and use the code MADS for 40% off their yearly subscription.

Fran Bushe is an award-winning comedian, writer and performer who has had sold-out runs at Soho Theatre and The Roundhouse. She's written features for The Guardian, Cosmopolitan, Metro and been a guest on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.

I invited Fran to chat on the pod about her book: My Broken Vagina. The book follows her funny, moving, and sometimes awkward quest to fix her sex life. It mirrors the story of millions of women everywhere - with half of all women having felt pain during sex.

During Fran's journey towards a better relationship with her genitals, doctors advised her to have a glass of wine to loosen up, and male friends suggested she simply hadn't 'tried' the right penis yet. Unsurprisingly, neither worked.

After a visit to Sex Camp and many attempts to fix her 'broken' vagina, Fran decided to share her own hilarious, excruciating, and sometimes upsetting experiences. With the help of her 16 year old self's diary, expert advice, candid and enlightening interviews with others about sex, and some self-care exercises, Fran sets about trying to make herself, and other people, feel like they're not being gaslit by their own vaginas.

In this episode, we chat about female sexual dysfunction and the variations, vaginismus, self-esteem and mental health, staying present and much more!

Hellooooo! Welcome to Season 7, Episode 5 of Mads World: Schrodinger's Douchebag with Aileen Barratt aka @tindertranslators!

This episode of Mads World is sponsored by Kinkystreet. They’re new to town, promoting empowerment, body positivity, inclusivity and those who just want to have fun! Discover your kink with them at kinkystreet.co.uk, and use the code MadsWorld20 for 20% off your order.

Aileen is a writer, digital marketer and the brains behind @TinderTranslators, an Instagram account that has amassed over 77k followers. Tinder Translation is all about decoding the subtext of Tinder bios and highlighting red flags. There is loads of innuendo and so many phrases used over and over dating apps, so much of what is said masks an alterior meaning.

People send Aileen bios, which can be boring, dreadful, funny or arrogant and she translates them into what they really say about the person writing them. So much of what men write on dating apps is laced with misogyny, and it's her mission to unmask it.

She has recently released a book, called Tinder Translator, an A-Z of Modern Misogyny. It’s a hilarious and eye opening feminist commentary on dating apps, shining a light on the blatant misogyny encountered during every swipe session. Scrolling through profile after profile, you'll see the same stock phrases: 'No drama', 'Must be able to hold a conversation' or my personal fave, 'Must have banter'. But what do they actually mean? There’s the funny and the not so funny, the blatant and the not so blatant, and scrolling through is depressing and enraging in equal measure.

In this episode, we chat about everything Aileen has learned through her own years on dating apps, in addition to the experiences of thousands of her followers on Instagram, we dissect some of the stock phrases used on Tinder bios and hopefully leave you feeling a bit more empowered to push back on shitty behaviour or at least see the funny side.

Helloooo, and welcome to Season 9 of Mads World! You're about to listen to Silver Linings: The Positive Side of Ghosting with Emma Kenny!

This week I am joined by psychologist, TV presenter, writer and expert media commentator Emma Kenny! Emma is recognised as one of the UK’s leading TV psychological experts. She is perhaps best known for her role as resident therapist and agony aunt on ITV’s This Morning where, during the viewer phone-in segment of the show, she provides expert advice on a whole range of sensitive issues. A regular voice on the airwaves, Emma provides expert opinion on many radio stations, including BBC Radio, Heart, Magic and many of the popular stations across the globe. Emma has featured on popular podcasts including Russell Brand’s Under the Skin and True Geordie.

Contributing regularly to editorial for publications including Grazia and Cosmopolitan, Emma’s weekly column and On the Couch therapy sessions are a popular feature in Closer magazine.

Emma has been working with Plenty of Fish on some research aiming to flip the narrative on ghosting so single people can explore the silver lining of ghosting! The research has shown that:

  • Singles save nine days every year from being ghosted
  • 54% actually welcome being ghosted
  • Singles are using the time to invest in themselves including practising more self-care (33%), and prioritising relationships with family and friends (31%)
  • 56% are choosing to reflect positively on the times they have been ghosted
  • 47% of Brits would raise a toast to their ghost

In this episode, we discuss how mental health impacts our dating experiences, how self-esteem and mental health are intertwined, how handling ghosting appropriately can be seen as a positive tool for self-preservation, communication techniques or strategies, viewing ghosting as an opportunity and how ghosting could be seen as a healthy option.

Hellooooo! Welcome to the season finale of Mads World Season 7! Redefining Relationships: Consensual Non-Monogamy with Logan Ury!

This week I am joined by Logan Ury, behavioural scientist turned dating coach. She is Hinge’s translator, turning academic insights from behavioural and relationship science into practical, accessible advice for daters. After studying psychology at Harvard, Ury ran Google’s behavioural science team, the Irrational Lab. She’s the author of bestselling book, How To Not Die Alone: The Surprising Science That Will Help You Find Love. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, TIME, The Washington Post, GQ, Glamour, and Vice.

We are in a new era of dating where the word “relationship” is being redefined, and in this episode Logan and I discuss all things consensual non-monogamy. While most daters want monogamous relationships, new data from Hinge has revealed that 15% of LGBTQIA+ and Gen Z daters are exploring various relationship types, or more specifically, non-monogamy. We discuss what motivates people to be non-monogamous, meeting like minded people, what monogamous couples can learn from non-monogamous ones, how to approach feelings of jealousy and more.

Hellooooo! Welcome to Season 7, Episode 9 of Mads World! Behind the Scenes: Running a Dating App with Inner Circle's CEO, Masha Kodden, and resident dating expert, Crystal Cansdale!

Through discussing dating apps every week on the podcast, I always wonder what it’s like behind the scenes of working at one. So this week I am joined by dating app Inner Circle's CEO, Masha Kodden, and their resident dating expert, Crystal Cansdale to learn all about it.

Masha’s role as CEO is to lead the Inner Circle to success by setting daring strategies and growing market expansion. Before Inner Circle she has worked as a tech leader and in online businesses for over 20 years in both B2C and B2B marketing backgrounds.

We are also joined by Crystal, Head of Communications for Inner Circle, and their resident dating expert. Her many, many years on the dating side of dating apps, combined with her career in online dating gives her a huge insight into the modern dating world and how singles can navigate it.

Inner Circle calls themselves a high-quality dating app. Created from the belief that quality is better than quantity, the app dares singles to date better. 5 million career-driven singles - from all walks of life - across 66 cities in 29 countries, make up the Inner Circle community. The team behind the app screens each profile on safety, effort and mindset so members only see rich profiles from people they’d actually want to go on a date with. Members are then encouraged to meet through the app, at unique Inner Circle events and in real life. Couples get together every 6.6 seconds through Inner Circle and 116,000 couples have met someone through the app.

In this episode we discuss what it takes to run a dating app and the challenges, what motivated the creation, the best stories they have had from users and what we expect moving into 2023. You can also expect some of our funniest dating stories, as per usual.

Helloooo, and welcome to Season 8 of Mads World! You're about to listen to the season finale, Tickled Kink: Getting Deep on Fetishes with Reed Amber!

This week I am joined by Sex Educator and presenter, Reed Amber. Reed is the co-founder of ComeCurious and host of the award-winning F**ks Given podcast which has reached over 2.5 million downloads. She has been in the adult industry for over 10 years both behind and in front of the camera. She has always been passionate about achieving equality and high levels of duty of care in an industry that can lack both. Reed worked as an ethical porn director and is now an advocate for sex-worker rights. She has been a regular guest on the BBC Tricky podcast for kinks, fetishes and sex work as well as MTV News discussing pleasure and sexuality.

Reed has featured on Gogglebox and was a part of Channel 4’s 'How To Make it on OnlyFans' documentary in 2021. She continues to speak about destigmatising sex, mental health and how to make her audience feel comfortable in their bodies by vlogging and sharing unfiltered authentic content across her platforms.

In this episode we talk about the difference between fetishes vs kinks, why people might develop fetishes, the shame and stigma associated with fetishes, social media and porn’s influence on fetishes, when fetishes can become problematic, and best advice for those looking to explore a fetish. Trigger warning for this episode, we discuss sexual assault.

Welcome to Season 6, Episode 9 of Mads World: Swipe Left, Swipe Right! A Tinder Bio Game with Lousie Jane.

I am so excited for this episode because after 18 months of begging, I am finally joined by my Aussie bestie Louise, to play a game of Swipe Left, Swipe Right:. This is something we invented to help contextualise the best and worst and worst of dating app bios, to help people out there make better choices on their dating apps.

Louise and I met 17 years ago which is wild to me, we grew up together and have travelled all over the world together. She actually sounds a lot like me in this episode so apologies if you find it hard to tell us apart at times. I bloody love this woman and this episode is one of my all time faves, I was in tears trying to edit this.
