Mental health isn't just mental illness, it's in everything we do. There are ups and downs, it's beautiful and messy, and at the end of the day, life's a wreck. Thing is, that wreck is what makes us 'US' and isn't that worth celebrating? A layered and rich wreck of emotions, nuance and stories, all culminating in very human experiences. We believe that conversations surrounding mental health deserve to leave the tall shadow of stigma and have their moment in the limelight. Life's a Wreck aims to be a museum of mental health, a parlour to the people, curating the stories of others and examining a world kept hidden behind stigma with a joyous curiosity and passion for storytelling. Join Kyle Moore around our proverbial campfire to share stories about the world we live in looked at through the lens of mental health. This is Life's a Wreck.

What's up you beautiful people and welcome back to another episode of Life's a Wreck. This week on the pod I'm stoked to be joined by TEDx Speaker, Mental Health Keynote and Public Speaker, Singer, Songwriter and Goodwill Ambassador to Holt International and HCMC Peace and Development Foundation; Amy Minh Hanh Corey. Amy reached out to me and after hopping on a call I knew we had to get her on the pod. Her experiences with grief, self-harm and self-acceptance are so powerful and she's chosen to share her story in a way the connects with so many people across so many mediums. I love what she's doing and I'm so happy to be able to share what she has to say with all of you. Kick back and relax because this week we're talking with Vietnam-born, mental health superstar in the making, Amy Corey.

What's going on guys and welcome back to Life's a Wreck! This week on the podcast we're sitting down with Taylor Lindsay-Noel to talk about self-identity, grieving the loss of yourself, and how mindset can help us achieve more than we ever thought possible. Taylor was paralyzed by a gymnastics accident at 14 and during incredibly formative years of her life had to readjust her sense of self. She's since blossomed into the amazing person she is today and has launched not only a successful podcast (Tea Time with Tay) but also a Luxury Tea Company (Cup of Té). Kick back, relax, and grab some tea because this is a good one.

To our dearest listeners, no fluff, this episode is long overdue. We're joined for our Season 4 Finale by Registered Nurse and Executive Director for Rising Sun Treatment Centre in Eel Ground First Nation, NB Cheyenne Joseph to have a conversation about the trauma, stigma and discrimination our Indigenous neighbours have faced throughout history. Kick back, relax, and more than anything, listen. Life's a Wreck.

S5E3: Let's Just Talk For a Few - Kyle's Life Update
Life's a Wreck

The whole reason I started this podcast was so that I had a creative medium to use when I needed to get some things off my chest. Now, going through a move, I figured it would be a great time to get back to the old Life's a Wreck podcast roots and just talk with you guys for a few. In this episode, I just talk through how being in a new environment both mentally and physically has changed my mental state and how I'm working on establishing stability in a new place. This was a fun one to put together so kick back, relax, and let's just talk for a few.

The Life's a Wreck inception podcast. This week on the pod I thought it might be a fun little creative experiment to explore the world of self-talk in a deeper way by literally sitting down and interviewing myself for the pod. I woke up, thought "huh I wonder what it would look like to have a 40-minute conversation with myself?" turned it into a podcast and now you have the pleasure of suffering through it. You're welcome. In all seriousness though, I love the creative platform that the podcast provides me and this one was a lot of fun to think through and put together. If even for a second you reflect on the relationship you have with yourself and your mental state then this podcast was worth it. Kick back, relax, and enjoy whatever the hell this is.

Not often a few boys from Charlotte County get to sit down and get into the nitty-gritty of mental health but luckily for you, today is one of those days. This week on the podcast I'm joined by fellow mental health advocate Matthew Dickson to talk about schizophrenia and the experiences he's had living with the disease for nearly 30 years. There are some laughs, some parts that are tough to hear, and definitely some times that will make you re-evaluate so much of what you think you know about schizophrenia. This episode is an ode to all those who feel alone or that there is no one around who understands what you're going through. A beautiful episode filled with beautiful stories. A very human episode that I'm hoping you'll get as much out of as I did. Kick back, relax, and let's learn something today.

S4E10: Solitude and Doubt Ft. Canada's First Ever Woman to Play Men's University Tackle Football, Reina Iizuka
Life's a Wreck
06/04/21 • 57 min
5.0
I'm a really lucky guy. I literally get to sit down and talk about mental health with some of the most interesting people I've ever met. I love every second of it and this week is no exception. Sometimes it can be hard standing out in a crowd, but especially when you're a woman and the crowd in question is a university football locker room. Reina Iizuka is the first woman to ever play men's tackle football in Canada at the university level and her story is one that needs to be heard more. From being called out by teammates to being featured on news outlets like TSN's, Reina's mental landscape has played a massive role in her life, especially over the past four years. In this episode, Reina and I talk about internal and external doubt, dealing with expectations, and also the self-imposed limitations we sometimes set for ourselves to avoid drawing attention away from things we care about. It's a great interview with an even better person, so kick back and relax because, at the end of the day, we're all just a bunch of wrecks.

What's going on guys? This week on the podcast I'm really stoked to be joined by men's coach, Chris Wilson. I met Chris through the monthly Tethr pods that I participate in and that Chris helps run. His impact on all the men that he works with is obvious and I couldn't wait to get him on the pod. We had a super interesting conversation surrounding some of the more philosophical concepts about the relationship between mind and body, feelings and emotions, and our internal and external life. Chris is the Founder and The Unshakable Man Brotherhood, an online community of conscious men holding space for connection, healing, and growth and in this episode, he explains the unshakable paradox which can help all men open up and live more emotionally fulfilled lives. Kick back and relax because it's another week of Life's a Wreck.

And we are BACK! Season 5 is off to just an absolute *chefs kiss* start with this one. This week on the podcast I'm joined by one of the most prolific Big Brother Canada players in the show's history, the man they call Ro Show, Rohan Kapoor. In this episode we talk all about isolation, spending time with your thoughts, the concept of trust, and how Rohan's time in the Big Brother House changed his outlook on life. Kick back, relax, and enjoy our Season 5 premiere.

S5E8: Happy Holidays Here's a Coupla Young Men Talking Suicide and Social Anthropology (Ft. Bryce Anderson)
Life's a Wreck
12/24/21 • 60 min
5.0
Happy Holidays to all! From us here at Life's a Wreck. Our gift to you: a conversation about suicide. Not the gift you wanted but the gift all of us need. This week on the podcast I'm joined by Dalhousie University Doctoral Candidate Bryce Anderson to talk about Social Anthropology and one of the biggest baddest words known to modern-day stigma...suicide. This episode is so important to me because I think it's one that my younger self could have used back when I was going through some really tough times. It's an open and casual conversation about suicide and I think all of us can take something from it. Kick back, relax, and let's have a long-overdue conversation about suicide.
