Inside Mindful Creativity with Lucy Irving
Explicit content warning
05/12/21 • 44 min
Mindfulness is a wonderful thing, life-saving even, but the presentation and language can make it a bit out of reach. Artist, illustrator and author Lucy Irving delivers mindfulness with colour, wit and playfulness in her illustrations, which are hopeful reminders to stay present to the everyday joys and sorrows that are familiar to all of us, especially in lockdown.
I first came across Lucy’s work on Instagram where she’s @likeliterallylucy and I was blown away by the sheer joyful daftness and we had a delicious conversation about creativity and mindfulness and how together, they can make us happier.
You can find Lucy's beautiful prints, books and very soon, her online courses on her website

Inside Menopause Activism with Uma Dinsmore Tuli
This is a deliciously sweary episode, so if explicit language is not your thing, please choose a different interview. But I have to say it’s very juicy.
Uma Dinsmore Tuli is a force of nature, a yoga therapist with special expertise in women’s health, mother of three, and has written four books on yoga for women, including the massive Yoni Shakti now in its fourth printing and updated.
Uma is co-founder of the Yoga Nidra Network and has developed Total Yoga Nidra, Wild Nidra and Nidra Shakti: radical creative and intuitive approaches to sharing yoga nidra. More recently she’s initiated Yoni Shakti The Movement whose purpose is to Eradicate abuse of women in yoga: take action to reclaim yoga as a tool for planetary healing and justice.
Stitching together our conversation as Uma sewed I asked her about her experience of her menopause so far, about rage and tenderness, about her childhood and of course Yoni Shakti The Movement
We talk about:
- How menopause is stuffed full of opposites – urgency + timelessness
- Mental health – menopause mood swings from high as a kite to darkness
- How we demonise and pathologise these emotions
- Being a menopausal mother to teenage kids
- How nuclear family has been designed to drive women mad
- The origins of Uma’s activism and how it’s been part of her life
- How the menopausal rage would not be silenced
- How she instigated the campaign to end the abuse of women and girls in yoga
- How Intersectional feminism has enabled her to use her anger for good
- Uma’s self-care for menopause
- The holy combination of tenderness and fierceness as an expression of the deep feminine
And of course Uma’s top tip for staying unstuck and vibrant inner life.

Inside Vaginas with Andrea Clarke
You can tell already that this is an explicit episode, we use clear descriptive language to talk about how working with the fascia of the pelvic floor, pelvis and vagina can create healing for sexual trauma, for shame, existential issues, healing for blocked creativity, for menopause and fertility.
Andrea Clarke is a trainer and therapist for womb massage and holistic pelvic careTM, who works internally with feminine bodies. This isn’t sexy stuff. This is boundaried, gentle, serious, whole-person healing that was created by Tami Lynn Kent, whose book Wild Feminine is a treasure trove of information.
We cover what the therapy is, what happens, what it helps, who it helps and much much more.
You can find Andrea on Instagram at @root_medicine
Her website is here at www.rootmedicine.co.uk
