Fixing menopause
Life - An Inside Job
02/15/23 • 60 min
This episode focussed on debunking the narrative that claims menopause is a deficiency that requires fixing with oestrogen, instead of a normal, healthy life event that ushers us into a vibrant, engaged maturity. I feel that if menopause is asking us to love ourselves better, to deepen our relationship to ourselves, then HRT can really help with that, allowing us to put ourselves first. But though HRT can be a lifesaver, when it’s used for a long time to continue to push through when our resources are already depleted, without making any lifestyle changes, it is just saving up problems for later.
Rachel Lankester, midlife disruptor, author of Magnificent Midlife, founder of The Mutton Club and host of Magnificent Midlife podcast explores:
- The faulty menopause research that’s endlessly repeated
- What symptoms HRT is helpful for
- The latest research into HRT and dementia
- Menopause and mental health
- Why language matters
- Rachel’s new project MenoClarity that’s offers free-to-access clear information and evidence-based research

Out of all the guests I have had on Life An Inside job, Jess Glenny offers the most vibrant and intimate window into her inside life as an Autistic person. Inside Mindful Creativity with Lucy Irving
Life - An Inside Job
05/12/21 • 44 min
Mindfulness is a wonderful thing, life-saving even, but the presentation and language can make it a bit out of reach. Artist, illustrator and author Lucy Irving delivers mindfulness with colour, wit and playfulness in her illustrations, which are hopeful reminders to stay present to the everyday joys and sorrows that are familiar to all of us, especially in lockdown.
I first came across Lucy’s work on Instagram where she’s @likeliterallylucy and I was blown away by the sheer joyful daftness and we had a delicious conversation about creativity and mindfulness and how together, they can make us happier.
You can find Lucy's beautiful prints, books and very soon, her online courses on her website

Inside Body Confidence with Sophie Cleere
Life - An Inside Job
02/21/21 • 47 min
This episode features an inspirational facilitator whose favourite thing is to empower women to feel good. The soft and strong, wild and free, fragile and fierce Sophie Cleere. Together we take a no-bullshit look at Sophie’s journey from disconnection to body confidence and the pleasures and heightened sexuality of her perimenopause. There is some explicit language so if that’s not your thing, you may prefer to listen to a different episode. We chat about:
- How our mums' body image influences our own
- How restrictive dieting crushes the spirit
- How to stop looking up our arses and be in the 'now'
- How conscious sexuality can be transformational
- Sex and perimenopause
- How the perimenopause gift of discernment helps us to really care for ourselves
- Sophie’s self-care non-negotiables for a vibrant life
And of course, a stonking top-tip to develop more body confidence
You can find Sophie on Instagram at @Sophie.Cleere

Inside craftivism with Suzi Warren
Life - An Inside Job
09/02/21 • 50 min
Suzie Warren, a craftivist who decided that instead of raging about the state of the world, she would ‘do what she could’. And what she does is to make, witty, beautiful and ‘polite’, very English acts of protest.
'Stitch it don't ditch it' has grown into a global movement protesting against the environmental damage the fashion industry causes, creating connection, community, awareness and teaching people new skills.
You can join crafivists across the globe during Sustainable Fashion Week by stitching on your street at 12.30pm on Tuesday 14th September. Details at streetstiching.com
To get your hands on some beautifully bonkers gifts for your friends and family go to twistedtwee.co.uk and you can find Suzi on Instagram at @twistedtwee and at @streetstiching
I'd love to hear your response to this conversation over on Instagram where I'm @kate_codrington and don't forget to have a look at my website where you'll find a wealth of free resources.

Inside Biodynamic therapy with Anat Ben-Israel
Life - An Inside Job
05/18/22 • 64 min
To celebrate the centenary of innovative psychotherapist Gerda Boyesen, the founder of Biodynamic psychotherapy, I talk to Anat Ben-Israel M.A. Anat explains the central theory behind Biodynamic methods, how these ideas have been integrated into the mainstream of body-mind theory, why Gerda's work was overlooked in favour of her male colleagues, and how relevant this work is to our everyday lives.
Anat is a Biodynamic Psychotherapist, a senior biodynamic trainer who has training schools in Israel and the USA, she’s a Training Board member at the London School of Biodynamic Psychotherapy, as well as working with clients privately in her clinic and online. Like me, she was lucky enough to have been taught by Gerda Boyesen, the founder of Biodynamic Psychotherapy an innovator who created a uniquely feminine, cyclical way of working.
You can find Anat at biodynamictherapy.net
And if you’re interested in finding out more about Gerda’s methods check out https://centreforbodypsychotherapy.com/ which is the London School of Biodynamic Psychotherapy’s site.

Inside perimenopause creativity with Laura Graham
Life - An Inside Job
06/29/22 • 58 min
I’ve been nudging Laura to come and chat with me for ages because I find her story so inspiring, her creativity has just rocketed in the last few years, smack in the middle of perimenopause.
She’s a poet and comedian from Leeds. She writes brilliantly playful poetry that packs a punch about midlife, menopause and the north. She also does fanny jokes. What’s not to love??
She has been shortlisted for Leeds Poetry Festival Competition, featured on BBC Radio York and performed at events such as the Vagina Festival and Sonnet Youth Weekender. She is a 2022 Hammer and Tongue national slam finalist.
Laura says:
If you want to hear more from me and see how I get on at the Albert Hall find me on Instagram @lauragrahamwrites
If you want to invite me to read a poem at an event or perform DM me
If you want to hear Stephen James Smith’s poem about why we need to create watch this:
If you want inspiration on why now read Mary Oliver’s poem The Summer Day
If you want to have a go at writing poetry read Grow Your Own Poem by Kate Clanchy and write along with the exercises.
If you want to join a very welcoming online writing community contact Scribblers Union @scrubblersunion
If you want to try stand up comedy but are not sure it’s for you: It is. Do it.
If you live near Leeds and want to do a comedy course check out
Now tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

Inside fierce justice with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli
Life - An Inside Job
07/26/23 • 50 min
Uma Dinsmore-Tuli co-founder of the Yoga Nidra Network, is a fierce proponent of rest in the form of yoga nidra, founder of the Yoni Shakti movement to end the abuse of women and girls in yoga, and author of many books including the comprehensive Yoni Shakti: a Woman's Guide to Power and Freedom Through Yoga and Tantra which is thankfully available again after a long break.
You'll hear
- How Uma was silenced by people who did not want her to share the truth about abuse in yoga
- How her fierce spirit guided her through dark times,
- How the clarity, direction and truth seeing of her menopause guided her
- The self-care and nourishment that saw her through
- An insiders peak into the publishing industry and the reality of a writer's living
This is a compelling story of the power of menopause transition to create change for good.

Inside loneliness with Francine Forde
Life - An Inside Job
07/01/22 • 56 min
In this episode, I ask craniosacral therapist Francine Forde about how come our nervous systems are so incredibly jangled at the moment and we got into a conversation about loneliness, overstimulation, boundaries and yes, even a bit of menopause too. But Francine started by sharing how she’s seeing women apologizing all the time, and getting curious about what’s going on.
Francine is a craniosacral therapist, who specialises in neurodiversity and lives in London and sees clients online, you can find her at:
