Leap of Fate - 88. Climbing Aconcagua: The Tallest Mountain in the Americas w/ Nate Redman

88. Climbing Aconcagua: The Tallest Mountain in the Americas w/ Nate Redman

02/28/22 • 43 min

Leap of Fate

If you say to someone, "You have a mountain to climb", you mean that it will be difficult for them to achieve what they want to achieve. One of my best friends, Nate Redman, took this metaphorically and literally by recently climbing Mount Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in the Western and Southern Hemisphere at ~ 23,000 ft (6,961 meters) in Argentina!
In Leap of Fate Pod 88, Nate takes us through the totality of his journey and shares photos from his summit climb (they are amazing!):
1. 13+ months of planning, training, preparing for this grueling 3-week expedition to reach the summit.
2. The highs, lows, challenges, and success he experienced on the 3-week climb
3. Reflection now that he has accomplished climbing Mount Aconcagua.
Aconcagua is a mountain in the Principal Cordillera of the Andes mountain range, in Mendoza Province, Argentina. Aconcagua is one of the Seven Summits, the highest peaks on each of the seven continents. It is second in height after Mount Everest. The first known attempt to reach the mountain’s summit was made in 1883, but the attempt failed. In 1897, Swiss mountaineer Matthias Zurbriggen became the first known climber to successfully reach the summit. The altitude on Aconcagua is so extreme that a number of hikers have died from altitude sickness while trying to reach the summit. Climbers also face the challenge of high winds resulting from frequent storms.
For anyone who wants to hear an amazing story of perseverance, overcoming adversity, mind over matter, and mountaineers wanting to climb Mount Aconcagua or any mountain, this is the pod for you!
Enjoy yall!
