In this episode, Chabidaye and Daniel discuss:

  • Why you shouldn’t ignore the signs of burnout
  • The symptoms and signs of burnout
  • Honesty is the first step to recovery
  • Achieving freedom from burnout

Key Takeaways:

  • Don’t ignore the signs of burnout. Chronic stress and anxiety aren’t supposed to be normal. Consider if the health issues that you experience are caused by your current working conditions and if they are pointing towards the fact that you are burning out.
  • When you are burnt out you might feel trapped in the past, inadequate in the present, and worried constantly about the future. You might experience sleepless nights and tired mornings. By the time the weekend comes, you might be too exhausted to do anything fun or meaningful.
  • Daniel’s body gave him a very frightening warning that he was burning out. We don’t have to know the hard way, we can instead learn from his experience and examine yourself. Be honest about what you truly feel and what you’re really going through.
  • Examine your values and see if any of them aligns with your current job and current working conditions. Seek the help of people that you can trust, whether it be a coach, a therapist, or a close friend who can both empathize and inspire you to seek freedom from burnout.

"What I did right in the early stages was I connected back to my values, and who I was, what I needed in my life. And what I needed in my work, And what I needed in my work, and what I needed to support that." — Daniel Ewers

  • Before you transition out of a company, give yourself some time to assess the situation. Ask around with quality questions in order for you to get all the facts that you need to make a truth-driven decision.
  • First, you need to make sure that you’re aligned with your authentic identity. Second, be connected to a team of people that support you and your mission. Lastly, create.
