Last Drinks

Annie McCubbin

Annie is an author and thought leader, committed to elevating the quality of critical thinking in business and in life.

After an early career leading a successful retail operation, Annie trained as an actor, and won major roles in theatre and television. During the 90’s and early 2000’s she appeared on most Australian TV dramas A Country Practice, Mother and Son, Murder Call, Water Rats and Love is a Four-Letter Word, and on stage playing some great Shakespearian roles. She directed and performed in the Sydney and Northern Australian seasons of Mum's the Word.

Founding COUP with David in 2001, Annie trains, coaches, writes, directs and occasionally performs in corporate dramas, delivered live or via video.

For the past 20 years Annie has worked with management teams and executives across ASX-listed companies, private businesses, industry associations and women’s business groups to help people develop personal strategies to grow in power, impact, and influence.

Her unique expertise peels back the layers of conventional corporate speak and opaque corporate cultures and, more importantly helps people make practical sense of their daily dramas. Her focus is on illuminating how flaws in our thinking can make people susceptible to poor decision-making and exploitation. She manages this without a single inspirational poster, scented candle or retreat in sight.

Her first book, “Why Smart Women Make Bad Decisions” was published in June 2021 and was received with critical acclaim. It won the Best Audiobook at the 2022 Australian Business Book Awards.

Her next book, “Why Smart Women Buy the Lies’ arrived on bookshelves in May 2023

Collab with Sober Friends Pod in the USA

It's a COLLAB EPISODE!

From the Central Coast, NSW to Conneticut, USA Last Drinks x Sober Friends Pod get together for a collaboration!

Matt Jerr is the host of the Sober Friends Podcast. He has been sober since March 21, 2014. Matt grew up in an alcoholic home with a father who drank a jug of Gallo daily and physically abused his mother. His stepfather drank to excess and was emotionally abusive. Matt swore he would never be like that and would never drink but found that booze solved all his problems around shyness and insecurity. His next goal was never to drink to the point where he did so alcoholically; he could never be like his dad. He could control his drinking but never enjoyed it. He would be considered a gray area drinker as he never got a DUI or got in trouble with the law. Matt has a family, wife, and three kids who have never seen him drink. He lives outside of Hartford, CT in the United States
