Black Lives Matter
You may have noticed that we did not release an interview episode this Tuesday. We deliberately chose to forgo posting an episode this week to allow ourselves and our community some extra space to process and learn about the Black Lives Matter movement happening in our country. We are unequivocally behind calls for reform and for equitable justice in this country for our black brothers, sisters and siblings. We are both in the midst of waking up to the systems in our country that have dehumanized black people of color and are educating ourselves on what we can do.
Here we discuss our personal processes over the past couple weeks and offer some resources that we've been paying attention to as we learn to listen to what people of color have been saying for years about the bias and unequal systems in our country.
We are not experts here. We are not teachers. We may have even gotten something wrong in this recording. We are here as fellow students. We're not here to be right. We're here to get it right. Grace and peace, friends.

Ashley Martin
In today’s episode, Stephen and Dixie Lee get to know Ashley Martin! Ashley grew up homeschooled as an only child and fell in love with books at an early age. Graduating high school at 15 and married at 18, she has since poured her love for literature into writing her own children's books! We get to talk all about Ashley's writing process, what it's like to work with an agent, and the complicated process that brings a book from an author's mind to a reader's heart. We hope you enjoy getting to know Ashley as much as we did!
