It's Not The Duck

Pete Rose, the greatest player to ever play the game of baseball, and should be in the Hall of Fame. His records include hits (4,256), games played (3,562), at bats (14,053), singles (3,215) and outs (10,328). He won three World Series, three batting titles, one MVP Award, two Gold gloves and the Rookie of the year in 1963. He also made 17 All-star appearances at an unequaled five positions (second baseman, left fielder, right fielder, third baseman, and first baseman. He is most proud of winning more games than everyone who played professional sports. Pete talks about some of his cherished moments in life and in baseball; His father's love, devotion, and toughness; some famous teammates; military service at Fort Knox; the “75” Big Red Machine; and his relationship with Bart Giamatti, the Major League commissioner who banned Pete from the game in 1989 for betting on baseball. How hypocritical is it today when the MLB accepts money from Casino’s, Sports Betting apps and Gambling sites, yet does not allow Pete Rose a second chance to be unanimously voted into the Hall of Fame at Cooperstown? He's paid the price for 34 years! Doesn’t everyone deserve a second chance? If you feel inspired to help Pete:
Write Rob Manfred, Commissioner of MLB, 1271 Ave of the Americas, New York, NY 10020, or call 212-931-7800. Hosted by Scotti Madison

Ep: 18 Bruce Hohler

Bruce had an exceptional management career in voluntary benefits and was recognized for his achievements by his entrance into the Aflac Hall of Fame in 2021. Born and raised mainly in the Atlanta, Georgia area, his exceptional work habits began at fourteen years old framing houses and buying his first car in 1966 for $100, a 56 Chevy. “No one ever gave me anything so I figured you better go out there and work for it.” He joined the Coast Guard spending most of his time on the Gulf Coast in the Search and Rescue station in Grand Isle, LA. After some hairy moments at sea, Bruce decided to enter sales, and the first sell he made was selling “himself” to the President of Liberty National out of Birmingham, AL. He later left the comfort of a salary plus commissions position for a straight commission sales job with Aflac starting in 1977 and he never looked back. It was tough and Bruce remembers a particular week when he heard nothing but “No, No, No’s” until finally on the last day of the week getting three “yes’s” in a row. According to Bruce, “I had a plan and I worked it consistently every day, it’s just a numbers game.” Bruce is proud to acknowledge in both sales and in life, “your spouse is an important part of your success.” Bruce shares his fascinating story of his collectibles about Werner Molders, a WW2 German Luftwaffe Pilot with a 100 kills in combat. Ep: 22 Belmont Basketball Coach Casey Alexander

Casey Alexander, of Belmont University, could be one of the best basketball coaches in College Basketball today. His early success at Lipscomb University and his recent Coaching achievements at Belmont University speak loudly both to his technical skills, as well as his ability to be a "players coach", a mentor who loves his players. His early roots began at Brentwood Academy, TN and culminated as a point guard at Belmont University leading the team to a 37-2 record. Playing under legendary Coach Rick Byrd and learning from one of the best "X's and O's" coaches of all-time, prepared Casey to become a successful coach himself. Coach Alexander's most gratifying highlight of his job is witnessing his players walk across the stage on Senior night and see how they have turned into a completely different person, a young man with a purpose to make something of their lives. Today, it is important to make a player's experience a "transformational experience and not a transactional one". The greatest challenge to a College Coach today according to Coach Alexander is" trying to marry a player's desire to "be seen, be noticed, be important " with the necessity to individually understand the importance of thinking "how can I become better and what can I do to help the team". With 10 games left in the College regular season, let's listen and learn from Coach Alexander, a man with great integrity and a Coach with a servant heart.
