It's Not The Duck

Bruce had an exceptional management career in voluntary benefits and was recognized for his achievements by his entrance into the Aflac Hall of Fame in 2021. Born and raised mainly in the Atlanta, Georgia area, his exceptional work habits began at fourteen years old framing houses and buying his first car in 1966 for $100, a 56 Chevy. “No one ever gave me anything so I figured you better go out there and work for it.” He joined the Coast Guard spending most of his time on the Gulf Coast in the Search and Rescue station in Grand Isle, LA. After some hairy moments at sea, Bruce decided to enter sales, and the first sell he made was selling “himself” to the President of Liberty National out of Birmingham, AL. He later left the comfort of a salary plus commissions position for a straight commission sales job with Aflac starting in 1977 and he never looked back. It was tough and Bruce remembers a particular week when he heard nothing but “No, No, No’s” until finally on the last day of the week getting three “yes’s” in a row. According to Bruce, “I had a plan and I worked it consistently every day, it’s just a numbers game.” Bruce is proud to acknowledge in both sales and in life, “your spouse is an important part of your success.” Bruce shares his fascinating story of his collectibles about Werner Molders, a WW2 German Luftwaffe Pilot with a 100 kills in combat. EP: 15 Wayne Baswell

Wayne, is Scotti’s longest running friend going back to the 4th grade. It's critical to be “well read " and can be the ultimate game changer to find that “common interest” with your prospect in sales. He shares his immense knowledge as a student of music history, of playing his guitar, and the impact it has on our wellbeing. We dive into what it takes to be successful in business, in particular sales. Wayne reminisces the lessons learned through “no nonsense fathers”, Little League baseball, Junior High Coaches, caring teacher’s and the spankings we both received pretty regularly. He is the master of sales, through his exceptional client relations skills always going the extra mile with everyone he meets. Wayne’s philosophy is to treat everyone with respect, work harder than everybody else, first impression is everything, and family and God come first. Wayne gives most of his credit to his loving wife and their dedicated relationship. It is important, “that people know you; if they don’t know you, they can’t do business with you and you get known by going out of your way to know them; what they like; what they do. If you want to build a lasting relationship, to endear yourself to someone, do something for their child. Remember to consistently reach out to people especially on holidays and special times of the year." Hosted by Scotti Madison

Ep: 19 Pete Rose

He won three World Series, three batting titles, one MVP Award, two Gold gloves and the Rookie of the year in 1963. He also made 17 All-star appearances at an unequaled five positions (second baseman, left fielder, right fielder, third baseman, and first baseman. He is most proud of winning more games than everyone who played professional sports. Pete talks about some of his cherished moments in life and in baseball; His father's love, devotion, and toughness; some famous teammates; military service at Fort Knox; the “75” Big Red Machine; and his relationship with Bart Giamatti, the Major League commissioner who banned Pete from the game in 1989 for betting on baseball. How hypocritical is it today when the MLB accepts money from Casino’s, Sports Betting apps and Gambling sites, yet does not allow Pete Rose a second chance to be unanimously voted into the Hall of Fame at Cooperstown? He's paid the price for 34 years! Doesn’t everyone deserve a second chance? If you feel inspired to help Pete:
Write Rob Manfred, Commissioner of MLB, 1271 Ave of the Americas, New York, NY 10020, or call 212-931-7800. Hosted by Scotti Madison
