play

03/14/23 • 42 min

Love in islam is a complicated topic. Unfortunately, with the severe spread of false information on social media, it becomes difficult to navigate what exactly Islam says. So I went on my Instagram and asked you guys to send in your questions for our special guest, Dr. Tamara Gray to answer :) ♡ Dr. Tamara Gray is a founder of Rabata. She holds a doctorate in leadership from the University of St. Thomas, a master’s degree in Curriculum Theory and Instruction from Temple University, and spent twenty years studying traditional and classical Islamic sciences, Quran, and Arabic in Damascus, Syria. Dr. Gray is also an author and translator. Her publications range from several culturally appropriate English language curriculum programs to translations of sacred texts. She has authored two books: Joy Jots: Exercises for a happy heart & Project Lina: Bringing our whole selves to Islam, and co-translated the Mukhtasir al-Jami’ fi al-Sīra al-Nabawiyya by Samīra Zayid [Compendium of the Collection of Sources on al-Sīra al-Nabawiyya] In addition to her work at Rabata, Dr. Gray sits on the Collegeville Institute’s Inter-religious Fellows Program, working to develop educational programming for faith leaders around social justice issues & serves as both faculty and an academic council member for The Islamic Seminary of America --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/islamicfeelings/support

Gratitude can positively impact the brain by activating the reward system, promoting neural plasticity, countering negativity bias, and enhancing social connections. Assalamu’alaikum everyone! Here is some short clips from a live halaqa on dealing with judgement in regards to the hijab :) at some point, all of us have felt hopeless/unhappy in our hijab journey due to the judgement and lack of support we may recieve. It's so important to remember in moments like these to sit down & reflect on your real purpose for fulfilling such an obligation. It won't always be easy, but remember Allah SWT says: "O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it" (at-Tirmidhi) ♡ socials & playlists can be found using the link on my page ♡ --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/islamicfeelings/support

This particular episode has been one of the most highly requested ones I've had so far. Discussing insecurities is never an easy topic, and as individuals strive to become better and more modest Muslims, each journey should lead to a destination. Throughout this process, it's common to experience moments of insecurity and a fading sense of confidence, particularly when one's appearance sets them apart as a Muslim. Not to mention, confidence is a positive quality valued in Islam. The belief in Allah's mercy, guidance, and support can instill a sense of confidence in a Muslim's life. Moreover, Islam promotes humility, which is different from low self-confidence. Muslims are encouraged to be humble and acknowledge that all their strengths and achievements come from Allah's blessings. This understanding prevents arrogance and helps maintain a balanced sense of confidence. Insecurities may arise from societal pressures and stereotypes that some Muslims face. Negative portrayals of Muslims in the media can contribute to feelings of insecurity and alienation. Additionally, misconceptions about Islam and the fear of being judged or misunderstood by others can create internal struggles for some individuals. This episode delves precisely into this matter. - Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Islam began as something strange and will return to being strange, so blessed are the strangers." Source: Sahih Muslim 145 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Muslim. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/islamicfeelings/support

Islamic Feelings ♡ - Depths of Dhikr | Final Ep | Islamic Feelings
play

07/11/23 • 10 min

Moving mountains through ministrations, Dhikr is not just words. It is how one remembers God and subconsciously moves oneself onto the righteous path. The remembrance of God reverberates throughout Islamic history, from the tongues of the prophets to those of the common man. The remembrance of God echoed when Musa (A.S) split the sea, echoed when Hajar ran between mountains, and echoes when the common man today succumbs to ministrations. Tawakkul is the blind trust in Allah, a trust that Dhikr helps build. Copywriting: Isbah Studios Resources: Life with Allah - Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “To declare the glory of Allah, the praise of Allah, the oneness of Allah, and the greatness of Allah is more beloved to me than anything over which the sun rises.” Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2695 --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/islamicfeelings/support
