Grilled Green Tomato Recipe
Ingredients:
- Green tomatoes, sliced (approximately 1⁄4 inch thick)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- Fresh cracked pepper, to taste
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- Pinch of salt, to taste
- 1⁄4 cup basil leaves
- 1⁄4 cup Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine the olive oil, soy sauce, brown sugar, fresh cracked pepper, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt. Mix the ingredients well to create the marinade.
- Add the sliced green tomatoes to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated with the sauce.
- Preheat the grill and use a grilling rack to protect the vegetables during grilling.
- Grill the coated green tomato slices until they are cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove from the grill once they are done.
- In a serving bowl, layer the grilled green tomatoes.
- Sprinkle the basil leaves over the tomatoes for a refreshing herb flavor.
- Add the Parmesan cheese on top to enhance the taste.
- Serve the grilled green tomatoes as a delightful side dish or as a topping for hamburgers.
- Enjoy your grilled green tomato creation!

About Debbie Wedemeier:
Debbie Wedemeier is an educator with 30+ years of experience in teaching Business Education at the high school, college, and adult education levels. Upon her retirement from “a school district, not life,” Debbie began subbing at the pre-school level, and at that point, she had taught all ages, from babies to boomers, and discovered that “we’re all the same, we just throw our tantrums in a different manner”! Debbie earned a Master’s degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Business Education. Her belief in lifelong learning led her to grow personally and professionally with hours of additional courses, workshops, and certified training. In 2016, Debbie began her Certified Health Coach Training through the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute, and she is currently studying for her Master Health Coach Certification in 2023 and Board Certification in 2024. Debbie’s desire to continue to Educate and Empower to Make a Difference led her to found Decide and Act Wellness, LLC in 2017. Debbie believes fully in the science of whole food support for our bodies and has shared Juice Plus+ for 26+ years. Debbie has 14+ years as an Executive Assistant to Corporate Leadership in Public Relations, Human Resources, and Manufacturing. Debbie has served in numerous leadership roles for organizations, serves as an advocate for nursing home residents, and is available to speak about or teach her Decision and Action-Based Health and Wellness Coaching Programs.
