Welcome to the Impact Hospitality podcast where we discuss a modern approach to hospitality, an industry steeped in tradition. For the last 3 years, Donte Johnson (General Manager) and Jason C. Bass (Director of Culture and Impact) have been working together at Revival Baltimore, a 107-room hotel in the Mount Vernon area of Baltimore City, to develop a new philosophy for servicing customers and the community and driving value to the business. We define Impact Hospitality as a significant, positive influence on guests, colleagues, and the community created as the result of a deliberate set of activities with the goal of addressing a pressing social challenge. This can be achieved through the creation of spaces for conversation, connections, and cultural exchanges. Join us as we share our journey in the industry and bring on special guests that are leaders of change in hospitality. These are people serving communities through the service industry.

Al Hutchinson joined Visit Baltimore as president and CEO in November 2016. As the chief executive of the city’s official destination sales and marketing organization, he is responsible for driving positive economic impact for the city through the attraction of leisure travelers and convention business to Baltimore.

Hutchinson boasts more than 30 years of experience in the destination marketing industry in cities from Richmond to Pittsburgh to Mobile. He serves on numerous key industry boards including the United States Travel Association and Tourism Diversity Matters, and is the incoming chair of the Destinations International Board of Directors. Additionally, Hutchinson is active locally with Downtown Partnership of Baltimore, the Greater Baltimore Committee and Morgan State’s School of Business Dean’s Advisory Board, among others.

Hutchinson is a Richmond, Virginia native, University of Alabama alumnus, and with his wife, Unae, a proud father to Asia and Jalen Hutchinson.
