#018 - I'm In - The Institute of Hospitality's Official Podcast - The Future of Hospitality Education
03/09/23 • 55 min
The Future of Hospitality Education
In this episode, we all grab our crystal balls and take a look into what the future of hospitality education might look like. The inspiration for today’s chat came from this cool quote from Abraham Lincoln.
“The best way to predict the future is to invent it”.
So the question at hand today was centered around how would this quote apply to hospitality education over the next 10 years.
Helping Phil get to the bottom of this was Joshua Wilson AIH, Yoo Ri Kim MIH and Ben Purton FIH.
Before they all got stuck into the headline topic, Phil once again asked his guests why they said “I’m In” to the IOH: -
- Giving back
- Events & Networking
- Mentoring
- The people you meet from many corners of the industry
- Sharing knowledge
- Bridge the gap between academia and industry
- To utilise the education bank of knowledge
And then to today’s topic. It has to be said that we had a wonderful array of guests on today’s panel with perspectives coming from different stages and areas of the industry but all united in their passion. That came across throughout the chat.
They covered areas such as: -
- Integration between academia and industry
- The lessons from the past
- Where the responsibility for improvement falls
- Tools and resources available to us now
- Some things for you to ponder for the future
- The IOH’s (And its membership) role in the future of education
- What we need to focus on
Along with lots more.
A huge thank you to our guests for giving up their time and really bringing the passion
Enjoy!
