EP9: Knowing Better & Doing Better
09/23/22 • 20 min
Coming from the Northwest, Sherrell, like so many of us, was raised with the long-held idea of attending school, getting a good job, working at that job for 15 or so years, going on a couple of cruises, and then...die. Being the first entrepreneur in her family seemed almost like a hindrance, but as she reflected on her journey and the failures, roadblocks, and successes along the way, Sherrell realized that it was actually her superpower!
Listen in as Sherrell debunks the myth of inbred entrepreneurship and reveals the four superpowers that shaped her journey to fearlessness, reinvention, and success in entrepreneurship.
KEY POINTS:
Does entrepreneurship “run in the family”?
Why you need to stay curious!
Get good with failure and trust your timing
The importance of cultivating your community
Allow yourself to evolve!
QUOTABLES:
“At first, I thought that it was something that was a hinderance, but what I've come to find out is that sometimes being the first is actually your superpower.”

EP10: "No Good Decisions are Made in an Emergency Situation" - Building a Legacy with Shannon Wilson
As entrepreneurs, we often embody this sense of invincibility - running off adrenaline and hustling our way to the top. We don’t stop or pause to think about potential adversities or worst-case scenarios that could leave us, or our loved ones, reeling. This is where Shannon Wilson comes in...
The founding attorney of Legacy Legal, an estate planning firm dedicated to helping create legacies one family at a time, Chloe joins Sherrell in this episode to have the conversation many of us avoid. And reveals why we should not only normalize discussing death but how it sets her clients up for success rather than fear of the unknown.
KEY POINTS:
What inspired Legacy Legal?
Who are Shannon Wilson’s favorite customers?
How Shannon designed her legacy plans
Why we need to normalize talking about death
The lessons learned as an entrepreneur
QUOTABLES:
“When we talk about legacy planning, we're talking about living through today.”
“What do you want your legacy to look like? Do I want to end up in a coma, and nobody knows how to even pay my bills?”
“I think about how uncomfortable the conversation is but how much we have to normalize it.”
