Help is Here - Beyond Porn Addiction

Courtney Boyer, M.Ed., M.S., is a relationship and sexuality expert. She was trained as a mental health and sex therapist, life coach, and Reiki Practitioner.

I was keen to talk to Courtney about how porn can impact sexual relationships, my own experience of erectile dysfunction and hookup culture.

I found the conversation really valuable as I haven't spoken about these kind of things with many women before.

Courtney was a brilliant guest, being 100% honest and transparent throughout and providing us with a glimpse into what goes on in a woman's mind when it comes to sex.

*Trigger Warning* in the last 10 minutes of the podcast we do discuss some things which on listening back I realised could trigger listeners. If you are triggered, see this as an opportunity to rewire your brain by willingly accepting the discomfort the craving causes. By accepting this discomfort and not acting on it - you literally rewire your brain.

3. The Brutal Truth of Overcoming Porn Addiction with Mari Paulus (30+ years experience working in addiction)

Here it is. The answer I had been looking for. Even if this podcast had 0 listens and I'd spent hundreds of hours recording episodes, it all would have been worth it just to have met Mari.

Honestly, I feel incredibly grateful that Mari one day stumbled upon my podcast and enquired about being a guest. She has genuinely changed my life for good. I've listened to hundreds of people talk about the best approach towards quitting porn.

But, no one has helped me as much as Mari. She gets to the point. She's helped me understand that this is a compulsive behaviour and it's not going away through meditation or any other thing that improves my life. Yes, I will continue to meditate for one hour each day as this enhances my life massively, but that is not the long-term solution to quitting porn.

The solution to quitting porn is challenging, but worth it. It involves:

  1. Continuously identifying junkie thinking of any kind
  2. Having a specific script to use when urges occur

I am excited to bring Mari's 30+ years of experience to you.

If you like this podcast, then you can also get our FREE training that we have recorded together where we discuss similar themes covered in this podcast. www.beyondcompulsionacademy.com

Any reviews would be hugely welcome as I'd love to grow the podcast in 2024 and doing so requires your help.
