The Ego helps us to cope with Childhood Traumatic Events

Ego states develop as a way to cope from traumatic events which may have occurred in childhood. When children are under repeated distress, they do not develop a healthy sense of self or ego. Instead, the ego splits off into different states that are connected to the 'fight-flight-freeze' response.
As a childhood trauma survivor myself, I found it difficult to show my emotions and to be vulnerable all throughout my life and this affected my ability to form healthy relationships as I kept reliving the past. It is only as I have become more self-aware that I no longer want my ego to keep taking me back to the past.
In this podcast episode I will be discussing the ego state and how it lays a distorted identity in case of child abuse. Listen on to find out how we can finally acknowledge and become aware of the ego and detach from the traumas of our past.
