In this episode of the Headset Advisor Podcast, you'll learn about the Jabra Engage 50 premium headsets designed for the busy professional.
Here are some of the things you'll find out about the Engage 50:
- What the Jabra Engage 50 connects to, and how
- What UC Applications it's compatible with
- The things you can adjust on this headset through the Jabra Direct Software
- The technology it uses to keep your hearing protected
- How your voice will sound when talking on it
- And how it performed in our background noise tests
- Finally, how much the mono, and duo models cost, and how you can get a better price.
Every now and then a headset comes out that makes you stop and take notice. It could be due to some unusual features, or maybe the way it looks or sounds. The Jabra Engage 50 happens to be one of those examples. This is a premium headset that comes with premium features. Jabra Engineers spent 54,280 hours developing this headset, not countiing the time spent testing it. When it was done, Jabra received 3 patents based on the work that went into it.
The Jabra Engage 50 comes with a noise canceling 3 microphone array that delivers an awesome sound for anyone who's talking on it. Some headsets sound flat, tinny or faint. You won't have that experience with the Engage 50 because these microphones are dialed in, and well tuned. But the microphones don't end there. We threw several challenging noise tests at it, and it not only excelled at noise reduction, but the voice audio quality was maintained at the same time; something not all headsets can accomplish.
Your hearing is protected through Jabra's use of several hearing protection technologies, such as; IntelliTone, SafeTone, PeakStop and Acoustic Shock Protection. All work in tandem to keep your hearing protected.
The Engage 50 comes standard with super wideband audio to give you a great listening experience, whether on calls, or listening to music. Conversations are very rich, and lifelike.
In terms of compatibility, and optimization, the Jabra Engage 50 integrates well with Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, and Zoom. This allows you to answer and end calls from the headset, and not just from the computer, and you status of your presence as well.
The Engage 50 is well-built because it was constructed using premium, lightweight, and durable materials. The mono version weighs only 2.1 ounces, and the duo model weighs 3.3. This makes these headsets among the lightest headsets we've ever tested. And the truth is, the weight of a headset matters when it comes to comfort, and all day wearing.
I would have liked to see Active Noise Cancelation, and a padded headband, but short of that, this is an awesome fitting, feeling and sounding headset that should meet the approval of even the most discriminating headset aficionado.
So how much does it cost? Mono runs $220.00, and the duo model runs $244.00. Premium pricing for a premium headset. You get hearing protection, premium audio, superior voice quality, and noise reduction, all day comfort and integration to Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, and Zoom. The Engage 50 represents an investment in your people; their comfort, protection, productivity and more.

Logitech Zone True Wireless Earbuds - Beast, or Bust?

As headsets go, earbuds remain a popular style. People just like earbuds, and if you don't believe me, just look around the next time you're out, and see how many people are wearing earbuds.
And though these remain popular for personal use, such as listening to music or podcasts for example, are they suitable, and a good choice for business purposes? Well, to find out, this is a podcast you really need to listen to. In it, I'll let you know:
- What shortcomings earbuds have overall, and why they might not be your best choice
- About new earbuds that were introduced by Logitech that may just surprise you
- How much talk time to expect on these earbuds
- How they sound
- How to connect them to your devices
- Details on the many features that come with these earbuds
- And of course how much they cost, and how you can get a better price on them
Two of the biggest things that have prevented earbud style headsets from being practical for use in business are:
- Insufficient battery life
- Sound quality not good enough to use on important business calls
- You could add comfort to this list, but not everyone finds earbuds uncomfortable
When you spend a lot of time on business calls, or video meetings, earbuds that offer 2-4 hours of battery life just doesn't cut it. The last thing you need is for the battery to give up on you right when you're in the middle of an important call.
And sound quality is important too, because you don't want your important customers to struggle to hear you, have to deal with poor audio, or hear all the noise going on around you. You don't want any of that. You want, and need, to sound loud and clear with no background noise detected.
The new Logitech Zone True Wireless Earbuds have helped to make using earbuds in a business setting practical. Logitech has packed a ton of features into these earbuds that should cause you to stop and take notice. Here's why I say that.
To address the battery issue, the Logitech Zone True Wireless Earbuds come with a battery that can give you up to 6 hours of talk time, and slightly less with Active Noise Cancelation activated. You can get up to 12 hours of music, and 5 minutes on the charger gives you 1 hour of battery life. The Apple AirPods, by comparison, gives you 2-3 hours.
These earbuds come with a USB Adapter so you can access calls away from your desk when using Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom and Google Voice. This is a very popular feature that you won't find on most other earbuds, including AirPods.
The Logitech Zone True Wireless Earbuds come with some other features such as Active Noise Cancelation so you can block out background noise, noise canceling microphones, Transparency mode so you can hear your surroundings without removing the earbuds. It also has in-ear sensors that pause music when the earbuds are removed, and resumes when they're placed back in.
The right earbud allows you to launch MS Teams, and answer/end calls. The left bud activates Active Noise Cancelation.
The size of the Zone True Wireless earbuds are slightly larger than other buds, but this could be due to more room being required to fit a bigger battery.
The price of the Zone True Wireless earbuds is $299.99, but use coupon code BLOG for a be

Here's The Easiest Way To Find A Headset For Zoom
In this episode of the Headset Advisor Podcast, you'll find out why looking for a Zoom compatible headset online isn't your best way to go. You'll learn why that can cost you more time, and money in the long run, and how you can avoid the hassles of incompatibility, returns, poor sound quality and more.

Audio narrated by Doug Merritt, CEO of Headset Advisor
When you use Zoom, a headset really helps you to sound your best, and it helps to remove a lot of the background noise going on around you. And, as an added benefit for those who use a wireless headset, you have the added advantage of being wire free, and able to move around your work area as you like.
But, something that's highly important is making sure you have a headset that's Zoom compatible. So where do you go to find a headset for use with Zoom?
- Do you head over to Staples, and walk the aisles hoping one reveals itself?
- Do you go online and wade through the myriad of websites?
- Or, do you land on America's favorite online shopping store, Amazon?
Whatever you do, and wherever you go, you'll probably have some bumps in the road.
- Will the headset you select be compatible, and certified for use with your Zoom Application?
- Will it be comfortable?
- Will it give you good voice sound quality?
- Will it do a good job to remove unwanted background noise?
- If you end up with the wrong headset, will it be a simple process to return or exchange?
- Will you be able to answer your calls when you step away from your desk?
- Can you mute the microphone from the headset, or do you need to be at your desk?
These are just a few of the things that you should be asking yourself before deciding to buy a headset for use with Zoom. And even though Amazon is a highly popular place to buy things, can Amazon help you if you need a different headset? Can they make a tailored recommendation? Can they provide you with the technical skill to help you avoid the need to return a product? The truth is, they can't. And what that means to you is you're rolling the dice that your headset choice is the right choice for your specific needs. And you know, it doesn't always go that way.
Well, there is a better way to get a headset that's guaranteed to work with Zoom, and one that will sound good, and reduce noise. Best of all, you can even try it out before deciding to buy it or not. Can you get that from the other guys? Uhhh....probably not.
Here are two ways you can skip the confustion, and eliminate the risk of ending up with a bad sounding, unfortable headset that may not be compatible with Zoom.
- Go to www.headsetadvisor.com/zoom Once there, you'll be asked to input some basic information about what you're looking for, such as; what you'll connect to, whether you want a wired, or wireless headset, how many units you need, whether you'd like to try a unit out before purchasing, and of course, how we can reach you. Once you enter this information, you'll be able to see different headset options that are guaranteed to work with Zoom. After all, these options are being taken directly from our Zoom microsite.
- If you'd like to skip the data input process, you can always just contact us directly and speak with one of our skilled, Headset Advisors who will give you personal attention, and a customized headset solution. Just go to www.headsetadvisor.com, and at the top of the page you'll see a contact us tab. Click on that, and you'll see several ways you can reach us.
