Geektown Radio - TV News, Interviews & UK TV Air Dates

It's our 250th episode of the Geektown Radio podcast! We were thinking of doing something special, but there was so much news around this week, we didn't want to deprive you, so I'm joined by Bex from TristaBytes in the co-host chair to chat about our week in tv and film, plus we have all the weekly tv news, renewals and cancellations... Plus, Bex was in something of a musical mood, so you have that to look forward to!

Reviewing the last 7 days in tv, gaming and film, Bex has been repeatedly drowning a digital cat on her Twitch stream (that's not as bad as it sounds when I type it out!), and also catching up on the Channel 4/Netflix drama 'Kiss Me First'. In tv, I have completed Season 2 of Ricky Gervais' phenomenal 'After Life', and also Season 2 of the wonderfully dark comedy 'Dead To Me'. Whilst over in gaming, I have spent most of my week building mechanical contraptions in the fantastically fun 'Satisfactory'.

In the latest tv news, we chat about The CW changing up their schedules to deal with the COVID-19 virus, which means late returns for all of our superheroes. We discuss 'The Vampire Chronicles' finally finding a home on AMC, and the return of Captain Pike, Spock & Number One in 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds'. We also have all the latest renewals, cancellations and new tv show pickups.

Geektown Behind The Scenes Podcast 16: David Bateson - Voice Of 'Hitman's Agent 47 Interview

In this episode of the Geektown Behind The Scenes Podcast I’m chatting with the legendary David Bateson, who this year is celebrating 20yrs as the voice of Agent 47, the protagonist of IO Interactive's video game series 'Hitman'.

David was born in South African to English parents but has, for many years, been settled in Denmark. He’s worked across film, tv and theatre, but what we know and love him best for, is his voice work as Agent 47 in the long running Hitman video games. He has voiced the character since its inception in the year 2000, and, as far as we can tell, he is one of the longest serving voice actors in gaming history.

We got to talk to him about what it's like playing Agent 47 for 20yrs, his favourite games, locations and kills, his thoughts on the movie versions (and how he was nearly involved.) We also chat a little about Lightmatter, a first-person puzzler where shadows kill you, and how he got involved with voicing that game. I also want to say a huge thanks to the people over at the Hitman Subreddit who either directly provided or influenced the questions.

Geektown Behind The Scenes Podcast 17: Barry Robison, Production Designer On 'Snowpiercer'

This episode of the Geektown Behind The Scenes Podcast I’m chatting with Barry Robison, production designer on the much anticipated tv adaption of 'Snowpiercer'.

Set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, Snowpiercer centres on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival play out in this riveting television adaptation.

Barry is a highly experienced production designer who has mainly been working in features up until this point, but decided to take on the challenge of a tv series. I previously interviewed Barry for his amazing work on the film 'Hacksaw Ridge'. His other work can be seen on movies such as 'Pitch Perfect', 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine', and 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader'.

In the interview Barry talks about how he went back to the graphic novel to shape the creation of the stylistic elements in the post-apocalyptic world, and how the train moves from dark to light as you head through the different socio-economic classes. This led to having the cars move from the windowless and dark tail of the train to the bright and opulent first-class cars, which were shown through large windows and a copper finish. He also points out some interesting little bits and pieces to look out for when you're watching the series, which launched May 17, 2020 on TNT in the US, and 25th May 2020 on Netflix in the UK.
