Geektown Behind The Scenes Podcast 53: 'Lucifer' & 'CSI: Vegas' Production Designer Alex Hajdu
10/03/21 • 29 min
In this episode of the Geektown Behind The Scenes podcast, I'm chatting with Alex Hajdu, the brilliant production designer behind 'Lucifer', as well as the upcoming return of the fan-favourite franchise, 'CSI: Vegas'.
As I'm sure most of you are aware, 'Lucifer' follows Lucifer Morningstar, who decides he's had enough of being the dutiful servant in Hell and moves to spend some time on Earth to better understand humanity. He settles in Los Angeles - the City of Angels, where he meets Chloe, an LAPD detective, and joins her in solving crimes.
'CSI: Vegas' returns us to the smash hit CSI franchise, and to Las Vegas, albeit with a new team running the Vegas Crime Lab. However, when an existential threat emerges which could bring down the whole facility, the brilliant team of forensic investigators must welcome back old friends and deploy new techniques to preserve and serve justice in Sin City.
Alex has been working in the tv industry pretty much his entire adult life. In the interview, we discuss how he went from carrying boxes for a production company to working on one of the highest-profile procedurals on tv. We go through his work on 'Lucifer', from recreating the initial standing sets when production moved to LA, to complex Season 6 sets such as the Gaudi-inspired God’s throne room and the Magic Castle Theater. We also cover his work on designing a new crime lab for the hugely anticipated return of CSI to our screens.
'Lucifer' can be found on Netflix around the world, whilst 'CSI: Vegas' is set to launch on CBS on October 6th in the USA. We don't yet have a UK premiere for the series, but if you click here, you can use our Never Miss feature to be notified when it does land on this side of the Atlantic.

Geektown Radio 316: ‘Squid Game’, ‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ Reviews, Renewals & Cancellations, UK TV Air Dates!
We are back with another packed Geektown Radio podcast, and in this latest edition, I'm joined by Matt from Entertainment Talk to chat through our week in tv, film & gaming, along with all the weekly tv news, renewals and cancellations.
We begin by reviewing the last 7 days in tv, film and gaming. Matt has joined the huge amount of other Netflix viewers to watch South Korean drama 'Squid Game', so gives us his thoughts on that. He also chats through tackling the wonderfully fun 'Psychonauts 2', and working his way through 'American Horror Stories' on Disney+. Meanwhile, I have been playing through 'Planet Zoo', which released their North America Pack and Update 1.7, so I chat through the abundance of cuteness there. I also discuss the return of our beloved ‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ for the 2nd Season, 'The Problem With Jon Stewart' on Apple TV+, and give an update on 'Foundation', also on Apple TV+. We also discuss the state of the Arrowverse, and 'The Flash' in particular.
In the TV news, we run through the renewals, along with some cancellations and pickups, including the arrival of IMDb TV to the UK, and the crashing of various UK channels due to a fire. In the news, we discuss David Tennant returning to ITV in a true-crime drama, a new Channel 4 James Nesbitt series with a ridiculous cast lineup, the CBS 'True Lies' pilot, and 'The Boys' landing a spin-off at Amazon.
