The Quintessential Effort and Attitude Episode

Front Office Features
We preach the 2 main things you can control are effort and attitude. This interview is a perfect summation of how excuses are just that... excuses. Jake Olson lost his eyesight at a young age but did not let that deter him from chasing his and fulfilling his dream of playing football at USC. Jake preserved through the adversity of going blind to perfect his craft and actually take the field for the Trojans. You may have seen his story on ESPN but what you don't know is how he and his College roommate and friends turned this all into a thriving sports business. We are joined by the CEO, President, and COO of Engage, an online booking engine for companies to secure athletes and celebrities to appear or speak at their events. Engage all started in their college dorm after seeing the amount of requests come in for Jake to speak. We constantly talk about "do something" and these three have taken it to the next level. A must listen for numerous reasons but mostly for anyone feeling the effects of being stuck and using this as motivation to find your path.

EA Sports... It's in the Game (Again)

Happy National Women and Girls in Sports Day! We start out with a huge shout out to all the women in our industry who do great work and are paving the way for future women. This leads us down a path of rehashing the 1996 USA Gymnastics team which uncovers another fun fact about Rob. He was a High School classmate with one of Chris's huge crushes, Dominique Moceanu, the star of the team. 14 year old Chris is super jealous! Big news out of EA Sports as they announce the return of NCAA football to their portfolio. This all ties back to the new rules around NCAA Athletes having the ability to monetize their likeness. Rob also nails the amount of money EA pays for Madden rights. Chris started watching the Tiger Woods doc on HBO which provides insight into the rise and fall of the planet's biggest sports star. Rob and Chris are blown away by Lionel Messi's contract... Almost $700M! Rob throws Chris for another loop when he shows him the pants he currently has on during the recording... ZUBAZ pants. Only Rob!

Brady, Beer, and Ballparks

Chris and Rob got to see each other in person for the first time since last June when Rob gave Chris a tour of the new Polar Park. The ballpark is going to be amazing! Chris received a blind LinkedIn message from a parent asking if their son could speak with him about working in sports. Rob is NOT a fan of this approach and shares some horror stories of parents calling him to let him know they can't come to work for the game. Pro tip... do not have your parents network to random people as it sets a weird precedent for how you will be perceived. We dive into the Super Bowl Ads and who were the winners and losers of the night. Chris wasn't a huge fan of The Weeknd spending $7m additional dollars on the production of an "ehhh" performance. We discuss the Jake Olson and Engage interview that was inspirational and helps remind us all that it could always be worse. None of us should have any excuses to achieve our goals if Jake can overcome the adversity he has faced.
