What the Fork is Ozempic?
Forking Wellness
10/17/22 • 63 min
Do we have a new outrageous diet trend to address this week... Like Fork we do! In this episode we discuss the incredibly concerning lengths that some celebrities (allegedly) are going to lose weight. In a previous episode we have spoken about the controversy that surround the Kardashians but in today's chat we add another layer to it! Weight loss and diet trends endorsed by celebrities can be very damaging so we would like to add a trigger warning to this episode as we are discussing extreme weight loss.
We also dive into the ins and outs of social media, perception of peoples pages and how tricky it can be to navigate.
Special shoutout to this weeks sponsor Olivado... An incredible company producing Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Avocado and Macadamia Oil! They mainly source their avocados from women-run farms, operate a fairtrade business, are carbon neutral and aim to be carbon positive by 2023. Avocado oil is also a fab source of those healthy fats and we love to use their avocado oil in anything from salad dressings, to roasting, to sautéing on high heat! Olivado is available at Sainsburys, Waitrose & Morrisons and you can use code FORKINGWELLNESS for 20% off on their website http://olivado.com

What the Fork is PCOS? ft. @essentially.emma
Forking Wellness
06/23/20 • 52 min
This week we sit down (digitally, of course), with Registered Associate Nutritionist, Emma Hanton, from @essentially.emma to discuss everything about PCOS, polycystic ovary syndrome. While 1 in 5 women suffer from PCOS, many remain unaware of the signs, symptoms and consequences of the condition.
Listen as Emma tells an honest account of her diagnosis and journey with PCOS. While weight gain is a common sign of PCOS, Emma remained in a smaller body. This led to doctors to overlook her symptoms and delayed the diagnosing process. Emma also touches on:
-What types of food should individuals eat with PCOS?
-How does PCOS affect fertility?
-What is the best exercise for PCOS?
-How to balance intuitive eating and eating for PCOS?
The books we discussed in this podcast are Woman Code and Taking Charge of Your Fertility.
For more information, visit Emma's website, https://essentiallyemma.co.uk/ or email her at [email protected]!

Forking Wellness
10/10/22 • 45 min

You might be surprised at what is actually is being that the title may come across a little misleading. We discuss how intuitive eating comes into play and whether or not its just 'another diet'. We hope you enjoy this topic that has not been spoken about on our podcast before and make sure you check out Paula on instagram https://www.instagram.com/movingdietitian/

What the Fork is a Quarter Life Crisis? Ft. @qlcgirls
Forking Wellness
10/06/20 • 58 min
This week we sit down with 2 out of the 3 'Quarter Life Crisis' girls to discuss what the fork a quarter life crisis is! Society has led us to believe that we should have achieved certain things at certain points in our life... we 'should' be in a relationship, we 'should' have moved out, we 'should' know where we are going in life, and this usually leads to us freaking the fork out! We chat about how no one really has their sh*t together and how we need to focus on our own pace and not everyone else's.
Big thanks to Wild for sponsoring todays podcast episode! We absolutely love their natural deodorants and they are offering you a 20% discount with our unique code FORKING. Head to wearewild.com to get yours!

How the Fork do our Parents Influence our Relationship with Food? ft. @fstone18 (Bari's mum)
Forking Wellness
06/30/20 • 43 min
Ever wonder what a 30-year wellness journey might look like? Or how a mother's relationship with food can impact a child? Well, in this episode we sit down with Fran (Franny) Stone, Bari's mum to find out! It's no secret that Fran's disordered relationship with food resulted in Bari's dietitian qualifications - but what did that journey look like?
Fran is a retired chef (an ironic career choice we discuss) who spent a majority of her life trying to be 'thinner'. Some key topics we discuss are:
- what it was like to have an eating disorder over 30 years ago
- how diagnosis and treatment has evolved
- pivotal moments as a mother in regards to food
- Fran and Bari joining Weight Watchers together (circa 2006)
- what Fran's definition of health is NOW and how has that changed
- what came first, the eating disorder or the love for food?
You can follow Fran on Instagram, @fstone18 and can also follow Fran's kitchen playlist of Spotify here if you like some chill country and 70's throwback vibes!

What the Fork is Orthorexia?
Forking Wellness
05/12/20 • 59 min
This week we sit down and discuss (what we believe to be) a very important topic... Orthorexia, also identified as 'an unhealthy obsession with being healthy' is something that a lot of people might be able to or, historically, be able to identify with... we certainly do!
Listen to find out:
- What the Fork is Orthorexia?
- Can veganism play a part in Orthorexia?
- How to introduce fear foods?
- How to move away from thinking refined sugars are 'bad'
- Is eating a 'clean' brownie actually healthier than a real one?
- Is it considered an eating disorder?
- What are the consequences of it?
- What is the line between healthy eating and orthorexia?
- Is amenorrhea a sign of orthorexia?
- What to do if you think a friend or family may be suffering?
- Is 'overdosing' on supplements a sign of orthorexia?
*Bonus discussion... hear our thoughts on the reaction to Adele's weight loss.

What the Fork Dictates our Food Choices?
Forking Wellness
04/22/20 • 44 min
We are aware there are many factors may dictate our food choices... availability, means, sustainability, convenience etc. But, when it comes down to it, we know that both, nutritional value and taste, play a big role when it comes to choosing what you cook up in the kitchen or even choose on the go.
This week we have an in-depth discussion behind what drives our food choices and how important both nutritional value and taste are.
We discuss...
- What drives our own food choices
- How this has changed growing up
- Whether its worth eating something you don't like just for the perceived health benefits
- Eating purely for flavour
- and how intuitive eating might help you find the balance between these two factors.
We are delighted to share that this weeks episode is sponsored by Wool and the Gang who responsibly and sustainably source the best quality yarns with minimal environmental impact. Making your own clothes isn't just great for the planet, but it can be good for your mind too! In a recent customer survey, 68% said that knitting helped ease their stress and anxiety! How the Fork do we Feel About Intuitive Eating? A 3-year update!
Forking Wellness
10/31/22 • 45 min
It's been a minute since we talked about intuitive eating on this podcast! It was such a hot topic and we have touched on it quite a few times in previous episodes but we wanted to check back in because we have some updates on how we feel about it. The two of us have always had slightly different views on the approach in the past but we feel we are now a little more aligned. We deep dive into the world of intuitive eating and whether or not we think its legit, or just another diet!
Special shoutout to this weeks sponsor KoRo... Their mission is to rethink the food market. They want to shorten supply chains and support a direct and fair trade regarding the origin, pricing, and quality. So what makes KoRo special in comparison to others?
