This episode is special because I'm sharing an interview I gave on Hot Flashes Cool Topics, a podcast hosted by two fun and brave friends from Tennessee.
Colleen and Bridget are changing the narrative about menopause and creating positive messages for women so we can enjoy this time of life and the freedom gained, not lost, from entering midlife.
The "midlife middle" is one menopausal symptom gained we can all do without. Why can’t we control our bodies during menopause? We can if we are educated and proactive.
Through the FASTer Way to Fat Loss 6-week program, I learned about proper nutrition and efficient exercise that helped me lose that midlife middle and gain strength and energy.
The FASTer Way teaches you to listen to your body and respond proactively. It’s about learning what's best for your body and being able to make the right choices when it comes to food and exercise and rest. It puts you back in control of your body, and that’s powerful.
Recently I was honored to be a guest on the podcast Hot Flashes Cool Topics to talk about the importance of nutrition and exercise during menopause. And this episode is a rebroadcast of that interview.

Amy Connell is 45 and married with two teenage boys living in Houston, TX. She been a personal trainer for 15 years and hosts the podcast Graced Heath. Through her podcast and blog, she fulfills her mission to encourage women to strive for balanced, sustainable health.
At the time of our interview, Amy was in the final week of the FASTer Way 6-week starter program. The Starter Program is like a nutrition and fitness boot camp. It’s how you learn the strategies that make the FASTer Way work and put them into practice with the guidance and one-on-one support of a certified coach. It’s how you learn the importance of non-scale victories and the FASTer Way mantra: progress over perfection.
So why would a personal trainer like Amy want to join such a program? As she explains, she has adjusted her workouts to correspond with her age, but she wanted to know how to feed her changing and active body the nutrients it needs.
Amy is being proactive about her health and she’s found that the FASTer Way gives her what she’s looking for: a sustainable nutrition and fitness approach that offers the grace she needs to fulfill her health goals.

14: Keep Moving with Sabina Montemayor
Get your free introductory guide to intermittent fasting!
Mobility is the joy of moving freely and easily. Healthy muscles, bones and joints allow us to perform all types of movements. Regular exercise, meaning a planned, structured and repetitive form of physical activity like weight training, is an easy way to increase your mobility and prevent falls.
So, the story in this episode focuses on mobility, because, when it comes to mobility, it’s "use it or lose it". And the FASTer Way provides strategic exercises for all levels with mobility and strength in mind so you can keep moving.
Topping at 293 pounds, Sabina Montemayor underwent gastric bypass surgery and lost 100 pounds. But because of her lack of knowledge of good nutrition and proper exercise, she quickly gained back half of what she lost. She joined the FASTer Way and worked with certified coach Le Bergin to learn a new way of eating and to incorporate regular exercise.
Now Sabina works out regularly and continues to eat the foods that are good for her...with the occasional margarita! And she is seeing a change in her body that’s beyond her size – it’s also improvement in her mobility and balance so she can enjoy her retirement – and new husband – for years to come.
