What do Elhers Danlos syndrome(EDS) , Hypermobile EDS (hEDS), Hypermobility Spectrum disorder, ADHD, Autism, and Endometriosis have in common? Libby Hinsley takes us through this tangled ball of yarn that really can't be separated. Libby enlightens us with some powerful information when it comes to bendy people, such as:
-What EDS and hEDS is and it's varying forms ( a connective tissue disorder)
-The Challenge getting a diagnosis of EDS and specifically hEDS
- Even though you are symptomatic doesn't mean that you have hEDS, but have Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD) , which is very similar to hEDS.
- 1 in 500 have hEDS or EDS
-The strong correlation between those who have ADHD and/or are on the Autism spectrum as well as other Neurodivergent diagnosis and bendy people.
- How the brain mapping of bendy people is different when it comes to the Amygdala, leading to hyper-vigilance and hypersensitivity along with and other variances.
- How Bendy people are more likely to have PTSD, anxiety, and disordered eating.
-The anecdotal evidence points to a higher percentage of Endo patients aligning with the hEDS, EDS, and HSD diagnosis given the Dysautonomia and Mast Cell Activation correlation.
-The 3 indicators of correlation are
- Bendy
- Itchy- (Mast Cell issues like rash, hives, GI issues, brain fog, fatigue, and muscle fatigue)
- Dizziness- Dysautonomia ( postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, or POTS)
- Ways to manage being bendy
- Strengthening our muscles and joints in a methodical movement avoiding injury and slow healing.
