Emotional Intelligence: Your Greatest Asset and Key to Success

I'd love to hear from you!

Grief carries the weight of a thousand unspoken emotions. Loss can shatter our world, leaving us feeling lost and alone. But within us all lies the voice of our Inner Sage, whispering divine wisdom to guide us through the storm. In Episode 16 of Positive Intelligence: Your Greatest Asset and Key to Success, my guest Jenn Berger and I talk about navigating the intricate journey of grief. We explore a spectrum of emotions, including the raw pain, the overwhelming confusion, and even the unexpected waves of joy that may surprise us. We delve into the complexities of grief, acknowledging that there's no one-size-fits-all path. Each grief story is unique, just as we are. Leveraging the power of Positive Intelligence and reaching into the deep well of compassion, we'll have a conversation that honors vulnerability and courage. Tapping into the powers of our Inner Sage such as empathy, explore, navigate, and activate helps us navigate the challenges, celebrate the victories, and ultimately, find ways to rebuild our life with grace and resilience. While we may start out just surviving grief, we can learn how to thrive again as we walk the sometimes crooked path of healing because even in the darkest moments, there's at least a pinprick of light that promises solace. Remember, friends, you are not alone.

Forgiving is Not Forgetting: This Sage Power is Transformational

I'd love to hear from you!

Forgiving someone, even ourselves, for a wrong or perceived injustice is one of the hardest things to do. The popular cliche "to forgive is to forget" is wrong! Forgiveness is about freedom--from resentment, anger, blame, judgment, and even shame and guilt. In Positive Intelligence terms, forgiveness is possible when we use our Sage powers of Empathy, Explore, Navigate, Innovate, and Activate. In episode 15, my guest Alicia R. McLain and I discuss the meaning of forgiveness, what events, people, and things have happened to us that may prompt us to need or want to forgive in the first place, and what transformation occurs in ourselves when we make that life-changing decision to move on with our lives. Tune in for insights on the power that forgiveness brings.

"Forgiveness" (Poem) by George Roemisch
Forgiveness is the wind-blown bud which
blooms in placid beauty at Verdun.
Forgiveness is the tiny slate-gray sparrow
which has built its nest of twigs and
string among the shards of glass upon the
wall of shame.
Forgiveness is the child who laughs in merry
ecstasy beneath the toothed fence
that closes in Da Nang.
Forgiveness is the fragrance of the
violet which still clings fast to the
heel that crushed it.
Forgiveness is the broken dream which
hides itself within the corner of the
mind oft called forgetfulness so that it
will not bring pain to the dreamer.
Forgiveness is the reed which stands up
straight and green when nature's mighty
rampage halts, full spent.
Forgiveness is a God who will not leave
us after all we've done.

Impostor Syndrome! Forget What Your Saboteurs Say--You Do Belong!

I'd love to hear from you!

Do you ever feel like an impostor among your colleagues and peers? Do you wonder whether your degree, qualifications, and experience are just “not enough” to achieve the success you want? In Episode 17, host Jami Carlacio and guest Siobhán (“Shivaun”) Murphy discuss the concept of imposter syndrome, that nagging feeling of being a fraud despite your accomplishments. We explore how this phenomenon disproportionately affects high-achieving women, leading to self-doubt, anxiety, and a reluctance to take on new challenges.

Imposter syndrome is a psychological pattern where individuals believe they are overhyped and their success is due to luck or external factors, not their own competence. This can manifest in various ways, from downplaying achievements to attributing positive feedback to mere politeness.

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is a powerful weapon against imposter syndrome. Drawing on the power of your Inner Sage, you can challenge negative self-talk, build confidence in your abilities, and conquer this pesky problem. The long and short of it is, YOU BELONG! You come to embrace and believe in the value you bring to your peers, colleagues, and everyone else where you feel the need to perform at your best. EQ empowers you to silence the imposter voice within and embrace your rightful place as the awesome, amazing, talented, and accomplished person you are. Believe it.
